Big Country
Yup - I've got my 3 year old hooked. Rather than always asking for cartoons, he'll ask to watch a cooking show every so often, especially a recent episode of Guy's Big Bite that i TiVoed where he did Chicago Italian beef sandwisches, or, as my son likes to call it, the really big steak show. Considering Guy Fieri is from my home town (sort of), and his restaurant Johnny Garlic's in Santa Rosa was always delicious, I really enjoy his show and find he is often preparing dishes that I would like to try. I currently have 4 episodes Tivoed with recipes to try - the above mentioned beef sandwiches, stuffed jalapenos from the same show, jerk chicken, a roasted tomato soup, some unique potatoes with bacon, onions and sour cream and I'm sure a host of others, but that is it off the top of my head. No real point to this other than I may have a little chef in the works. How young is too young for his first knife set? j/k

detlef
I had a friend who's 3 year old kid, like others, might be inclined to have temper tantrums at the dinner table. Only, in this kid's case, it's because daddy cut him off after a dozen sichuan-style steamed oysters. The kid was unreal.

Egret
No real point to this other than I may have a little chef in the works. How young is too young for his first knife set? j/k My three-year-old has cut lemons in half with me to make lemonade. I hold the lemon, put the knife in the right spot, and he saws it back and forth. The wife wasn't too thrilled with that. I do all the cooking at home and he's been "helping" for a long time now. He made his own scrambled eggs the other day. He cracked open the eggs, put it in the pan, cooked them and took them out on his own. Of course we were there, but he did a great job.
