McBoog
Former Chargers safety killed in car accident This kid broke the law and AJ cut hit, quick! He was always in trouble in San Diego but his "status" got him out of more than what was sited here. Personally, I don't see the League or a team having to try to do something about this. Too, many of these retar... er, guys, don't listen or want help. The "status" that we give them makes them feel like they don't have to change and shouldn't. After all, they are millionaire NFL football stars... we better know who they are and better be danged impressed! It is amazing to me how many great, quality young men there are in The League, and this is balanced out by so many kids that end up like this after living/glorifying the hoodlum persona. OK, it is a tragic loss of life and I feel for those who loved him. But, I think the Chargers handled this the way the whole league should. Cut these guys out into space, no second chance, you be gone! That will send the biggest message there is. Clean up your act, now and fast, or good luck on that freedom fry cooking gig at the Micky Ds. Paging Pacman, Mr. Packman Jones. Your shooters and car keys are waiting for you at valet parking. Is someone like him next?
Clubfoothead
What was the felony drug charge? Pissing on the ground outside a titty bar seems like not that big of deal.
Zooty
What was the felony drug charge? Pissing on the ground outside a titty bar seems like not that big of deal. In February 2007 he pleaded guilty to felony and misdemeanor drug charges for shipping prescription cough syrup to Texas, the most significant of several scrapes with the law. He was released by the team after his plea. Kiel had been led off the practice field and arrested in the locker room by Drug Enforcement Administration agents in September 2006, suspected of shipping at least two parcels of prescription cough syrup, apparently to be mixed with soft drinks to make a concoction known as "lean." The felony charges were later dropped after he completed community service, and he was serving three years probation for the misdemeanor charges.. Randall
Paging Pacman, Mr. Packman Jones. Your shooters and car keys are waiting for you at valet parking. Is someone like him next? Possibly. A lot of these kids grow up without parental interaction. In many cases it's more about poverty than absentee dads but there are a lot of causes. Some join gangs because it's the closest thing to family they have. I remember Kehl. I don't what happened in his case but this isn't a simple black and white issue(kids not handling stardom and money).

polksalet
"In 2003 Kiel was shot 3 times after an attempted carjacking in Houston, Texas. On September 26, 2006 Kiel was arrested for multiple drug charges including: possession, possession with the intent to sell, and transportation of a controlled substance. Police came to the Chargers practice facility and arrested him. He was released after posting a $1,550,000 bond.[2] On February 7, 2007 he pleaded guilty to felony and misdemeanor drug charges for shipping codeine-based cough syrup to Texas. He was ordered to do 100 hours of volunteer work, including talking to young people about dangers of drugs and undergo counseling for urinating in public." Isn't it the Cowboys that have quite recently picked up at least two players that were cut by other teams for bad behavior? It's a shame this guy is dead, maybe he could have got a job from Jerry too.

As far as Dallas' propensity to sign troubled players you are absolutely correct

Chargerz
Another very sad case of a talented young football player with so much potential making wrong choices and now gone for good. It's almost assured that drugs &/or alcohol was involved in this accident. Just tragic.

First off, this was the first time that Harrison every got in any kind of trouble. It was multiple times for Cedrick.. Also, Harrison's case ended up getting thrown out, while Cedrick's happened in public with many witnesses. Did the Cowboys pick-up Wilson yet ? Its like the Steelers with Harrison. Sometimes you cut a bad seed if they arent worth the headache. I am just speaking in football terms of course. I hate to see any young life snuffed out Yeah! I think the NFL needs to set a zero tolerance line for public displays of illegal activity. It needs to be part of the contracts that $ will be lost/returned. What horrendous message was sent with the Vick case and the $ he got to keep? Getting rid of these guys works only if ALL the teams do it. I think that "users" (pee hot) could possibly be granted a one time exemption IF they get help and are not arrested in the process. Merriman? He has turned out to be a great kid that made a bad choice on supplements (allegedly). He has not been a bad member of the community, has not been arrested and is very involved in many charitable activities and organizations. A felony arrest? Cut him, and that would include a DUI. But you cross the line once in the NFL.... Buh, Buy! The biggest problem I have with the NFL is the message that if you are good enough, the rules don't apply to you. I am thankful that AJ has built a team around quality guys and it is a team that you can be proud of on many different levels. I hope this doesn't turn into a your guy is worse than my guy thread. How believable too. An NFL player gets busted for a felony, he should be banned from the league. Period. (edit: and every penny returned as mentioned above) What a joke pro sports has become w/their limp-wristed hand slaps of thugs. Credit Goodell for trying to reverse the trend some, but I think he's spitting into the wind. Edited July 6, 2008 by BeeR
