kabal152
If nothing else, 2007, proved NFL depth charts are loaded with talented back up RBs. Some obscure afterthought stepped in and carried the franchise. See the following teams last year: Green Bay - Took awhile to get to Grant. Indy - Kenton Keith was cool Giants - Bradshaw and Ward made the Super Bowl possible Cincy - Kenny Watson was aight KC - Kolby Smith Tampa - Ernest!!! And Buffalo - to a lesser degree. You ever have an obscure player that for some reason catches your eye. Every time I saw Fred Jackson last year, he was moving the sticks. Now i know Lynch is firmly entrenched as the starter and rightly so, however when everyone was screaming D. Wright last year, Jackson clearly outplayed him. I drafted Lynch last year and he went down (I WAS SCRAMBLIN), Fred Jackson looked very good against a decent Washington team and well, the Dolphins. He only played 7 games but he caught 22 balls (4 more than Lynch) and ran for damn near 200 combined yards in those 2 starts. I can definately see him getting some attention this season. As a runner I watched him very closely in the games against the Skins and Fins and he actually looked more explosive "dare i say" than Lynch. If Lynch goes down, I think Jackson will be able to fill in quite admirably. So if you draft Lynch you can probably get away with picking up FJax on the waiver wire, cuz i don't think anyone was really paying attention last year to Mr. Jackson and you know what, they should have. The Wolf
Ryan Grant is different because Green Bay didn't have Lynch. I think what Kabal is saying is that Jackson stepped up when needed, as did Grant. Two different endings, yes, but neither was the starter at the beginning of the year.

The Wolf
fun thread! yes, I agree that FJax (yeah, I did that) is one to be on the radar, but he only had two good games and he only had two opportunities -- I'm counting games with 10+ attempts as opportunities. Too soon to make any statements, but if I've got room on a team and Lynch goes down (or gets suspended ) I'm grabbing FJax fast. In a non-BOTH dynasty I am in, the Portis/Lynch owners just swapped Fred Jackson and Ladell Betts.

The Wolf
They swapped straight up? FJax has a lot less of a track record, but I think I'd much rather have him than Betts, ceterus paribus. Straight up.
tbimm
They swapped straight up? FJax has a lot less of a track record, but I think I'd much rather have him than Betts, ceterus paribus. That deal works fine if Jackson is DTS. You get the potential handcuff without chewing up a roster spot.
tazinib1
I like FJax don't get me wrong. I just don't know much about him being that he's a 27 year old 2nd year player out of Coe (Where the hell is Coe???). But in order to be a SUPER DUPER sleeper, you can't be the handcuff. Can you? lol....the SUPER DUPER sleeper IMO would be OMON. Gotta go...there are gentlemen dressed in black fatigues knocking at my door. Just 22 roster spots and 2 IR spots. That be it.
whomper
Thanks! I get what ya mean by "development squad", but what's the "taxi" part? Thats what Fred Jackson will be driving for a living in about 3 years

Avernus
I've never been overly impressed with Lynch's fantasy production to begin with.... and I traded for him last year, only because he was a very good #3 RB...

Arnez Battle.........Is he the next Jerry Rice???? It's Arnaz and I know you're kidding but it still makes me want to That said he could emerge as the most consistent WR option in SF this year, whatever that means. kabal152
I understand but he's only looking at half the situation. Isn't that like saying if you ignoreTom Brady Matt Cassell would be a great sleeper pick? I have never seen a board with as many dumb responses to an obscure post featuring an obscure player. I am not looking at half of any situation. Fred Jackson played well in two games. I happened to catch them both (Thanks Sunday Ticket and Super Fan). For all the MLynch owners, Jackson is the handcuff, not Wright. In the response above, some lady placed Tom Brady and Matt Cassell in the same sentence!!! If Lynch goes down, I think you may actually be able to survive with Fred Jackson. Yeah your team is taking a sizeable hit, but your season won't come to a grinding halt. He seems like a capable backup and a decent insurance policy for Lynch. Look, if you have Brady and he goes down and they are forced to replace him with Matt Cassell, kiss your azz, money and season goodbye!!! Although, I am sure when Drew Bledsoe busted up his lungs a few years ago and Brady had to take over , gloom and doom was in the forecast. How did that turn out THIS IS WHY THEY CALL THEM SLEEPERS Carry On Fellas
