piratesownninjas
Who will go for more yards this year? Fear not Polk, we're only a week away from training camp... Oh, and give me Ron Dayne?
Avernus
...Ron Dayne.. funny you should compare a soft RB with another soft RB...

Seahawks21
Ron Dayne. Does Shaun retire in the next few weeks?
BeeR
I'm surprised no one has made a move on Dayne. Yeah I know it's Dayne, but he did pretty respectable last year and better than most backups in the league. Easily worth vet min.

Problem is that there are a few backs that are capable and can't find work... The draft and the abundance of backs hurts their chances of landing somewhere. Bronco Billy
Dayne will be employed somewhere. Alexander might be also. Wait for the injuries to start cropping up (like Jones should have done).

Big Talker
Kind of ironic in a way. I remember the year both of those guys came out of college. The big debate that year was who would be the top guy (out of four): Alexander, Dayne, Thomas Jones or Jamal Lewis. Three of the four have had success at least, and even Dayne has had a little here and there.

Bronco Billy
Here's the problem with what some people are suggesting about picking up these kinds of RBs and cutting the worst RB currently on the roster: Unless a player is the starting RB, they most probably have to make some kind of contribution on special teams. I find it highly unlikely that SA is going to play on the kick coverage team and hope to move up the pecking order at RB. Some of these guys will do that - I know Dayne willingly played STs in DEN while he was looking for his second chance. But after being the go-to guy for a few years, some of the RBs have no interest in contributing as anything other than a starting RB. The one thing I would kind of add is that I don't think any of these guys outside of maybe Dayne would go to a team with the thought of being their 3rd RB. I think the main reason a team would look to add one of these guys is if they have questions about their main backup or even their starter, rather than their 3rd RB. Surely it could help if a team could sign a guy that excelled on special teams, but when looking to add a quality RB, I don't think it is necessarily a priority.
