Anderson, Pool suffer concussions; Cribbs hurt

Browns quarterback Derek Anderson left Monday's game against the New York Giants in the second quarter after suffering a concussion and was replaced by Brady Quinn.

Safety Brodney Pool also left the game with a first-half concussion.

Anderson was injured when he was sacked for an 8-yard loss by defensive end Osi Umenyiora -- who fell on him -- after a blown protection. Anderson looked dazed and glassy-eyed as he walked off the field. He completed 4 of 10 pass attempts for 20 yards before leaving the game for good.

Browns kick returner Josh Cribbs left the field with 7:22 left in the first quarter with an ankle injury and did not return. He suffered the injury while covering a punt, the one on which safety Mike Adams was flagged.

The severity of Cribbs' injury was not immediately known.

In Cribbs' absence, backup returner Syndric Steptoe returned kickoffs 40 and 90 yards in the first quarter.

Per Cleveland Plain Dealer.
