Injurt/suspension sob stories drafting too early

Mine is trading my first round pick and drafting Steve Smith and Brandon Marshall with the next 2 picks(one from the trade) then maybe losing Reggie Brown for a time.

I should be OK after the first 2 games but that was a tough way to start the season. At least it's only 2 weeks.

Anyone else hurt by drafting early?

A few years ago in our auction league, one guy gave $100 of his $240 cap for Michael Vick. About half an hour later, ESPN came on with a news flash that vick had been injured and would miss a big portion of the season. So this guy wasn't even done with his draft, and his big money player was gone.

He paid a couple of bucks for John Kitna, who went on to have a pro bowl season with the Bengals, and dude still made the playoffs.

This is one of the funniest draft moments I've ever seen...and I've seen plenty of them. We still laugh about that every year at the draft, and this was the reason we started doing the drafts on Labor Day weekend.

  • 2 weeks later...

How is that even bad? So you go 0-2 then grab whatever hot waiver pick invariably comes off the wire in week 2 and storm to the top of your league with two #1 WRs and probably additional RB or something like that to boot....

I've repeatedly found the team in last place early on ends up with somebody like Ryan Grant or Derrick Ward last year.
