The Hand of God
I'm in a new 14 team league which not only is a keeper league but also includes IDP. I've never played with defensive players so I'm not sure how much weight to give them. In this league we only start 2 IDP along with our offense. When should I consider drafting defense? To make it even more confusing, this is a keeper league and the first draft of said league so I really don't want to mess this up as I'll have to deal with the repercussions for seasons to come. Any strategies or exercises I can go through to determine player values? Thanks for any suggestions As a reference I pasted our scoring for the defensive side. (offensive scoring is standard with points per reception included) ATK - Assisted Tackles (ID only) 2 points BFB - Blocked Field Goals (ID/ST/DST) 20 points BFTD - Blocked Field Goal Touchdown (ID/ST/DST) 60 points BP - Blocked Punts (ID/ST/DST) 10 points BPTD - Blocked Punt Touchdown (ID/ST/DST) 60 points BXP - Blocked Extra Points (ID/ST/DST) 10 points DFR - Defensive/ST Fumble Recovered (ID/DT/DST) 20 points DFRTD - Defensive Fumble Recovery TD (ID/DT/DST) 60 points DTD - Total Defensive and Special Teams TD 0 points FF - Forced Fumble 10 points Int - Interceptions 20 points IntTD - Interception TD 60 points KRTD - Kick Return TD (ID/ST/DST) 60 points PRTD - Punt Return TD (ID/ST/DST) 60 points SACK - Sack 10 points STY - Safety 20 points TK - Tackle (ID/DT/DST) 5 points We have standard scoring on offense with points per reception. keggerz
honestly, if you only have to start 2 it almost isnt even worth drafting them because there will always be very good players available on the waiver wire. oh, and your scoring system really favors big plays with Sacks and INTs worth 4 times that of a tackle Edited August 21, 2008 by keggerz

SteelBunz
I dunno Keg.....with that scoring system, Patrick Willis would have had 833 pts minimum. That's like 52 pts per game! That has GOT to be double LT...right? Rock star status really.....LOL. Hand.....do you guys use MFL? Look under Players>Top Performers and take a look at where the top IDPs fall within your system. If you've got 10 or so in the top 30....It might be worth looking at snagging one or two ahead of a second or third RB or WR, depending on what draft position you draw. For only using 2 IDPs....that's some heavy scoring.
