Fatman
Saw this over on Yahoo: Fri, Aug 22 Indianapolis head coach Tony Dungy downplayed a report that Manning recently had a second medical procedure on his knee, the Terre Haute News reports. "I saw something on a blog and I think you have to go to the person who wrote that and interview him. I’ll leave it at that," Dungy said. Recommendation: Former NFL front office executive Mike Lombardi wrote on his blog that Manning underwent an unannounced second medical procedure on his knee and he'll be out much longer than expected. Dungy didn't deny the report outright, which is worrisome. Plus, the Colts haven't been forthcoming with injury information (such as Marvin Harrison's knee injury last season) and often fail to announce when medical procedures have taken place. The Colts still say Manning has a good chance to play in Week 1, and he's at least walking on the sidelines at practice, but his status will remain uncertain until he gets out on the practice field. LayLow
That blows! I have a draft tonight, and Manning probably will come to me in the end of the 2nd/beginning of the 3rd round with LT already on me team in a keeper league... I wouldn't know what to do
cre8tiff
Dude was walking around practice Tuesday with just an ace bandage and no limp, according to the Indiana paper. Doesn't sound like someone who just got hacked. Edited August 22, 2008 by cre8tiff
budlitebrad
On the bright side, they're playing the Bears week 1.

cre8tiff
His report is from today. Your link is from Tuesday. It said recently. Manning led the team through a walkthrough yesterday. When are they saying this new surgery was suppose to have taken place? Edited August 22, 2008 by cre8tiff
LayLow
I was still thinking that the surgery was to remove that sac. If they got in their, and removed it and also removed or corrected something else that might require more time to heal, it could be a problem. Savage Beatings
He's one of my 3 keepers in UFF-DA this year. I really hate starting out a season this way.
CaptainHook
He participated in a walk through on Wednesday. I highly doubt he would have done that if he had recently had surgery.
Randall
The reports of swelling after activity concern me. If true. Maybe Peyton and Brady are playing coy with the league. Edited August 22, 2008 by Randall
RussMan
The Colts are reportedly unable to control the swelling in Peyton Manning's surgically repaired knee, and whenever Manning goes through extensive movement more swelling results. The National Football Post's Mike Lombardi, who also writes for SI.com, calls this a "HUGE concern long-term and short-term" and that when Manning is hit, more swelling is inevitable. Lombardi says he was initially convinced Manning would be back for Week 1, but now has doubts. Practicing next week would be encouraging, assuming Manning can keep going. rattsass
Damn, I thought I was ready. Now this throws a HUGE curveball into this weekends drafts. It affects so many things. So many strategies and expectations where players will be taken. None of the site providers are going to downgrade Manning very much - just since the story is seemingly so flimsy. This makes a very tough and challenging draft even more brutal. Oh well, back to the drawing board...again. -sigh-

I have Gonzales on a team or 2 and also have Harrison as a WR3. To much indecision as far as injuries and such for me to invest my season in Colts players right now. CaptainHook
I am officially worried. I was at Lucas Oil Stadium tonight. Peyton Manning was there for the coin toss of both high school games for his charitable orgainization the Peyback Foundation. Each year it allows different Indiana schools to play one game in the NFL stadium. Peyton walked with a slight limp. His knee appeared very stiff. I don't see how he will be ready for Week One. Downgrade all Colts immediately. The way the Colts are with injuries, who knows how long he could miss.
