polksalet
I have him in two leagues. In one of them he is my starting TE . I know nothing about him. Do you think he can get me 300 and 3?
CaptainHook
drafted by the Colts in the third round (i think) a few years back. Never could beat out Ben Utecht or Brian Fletcher at TE. The Colts held on to him for while, put him on IR. Titans picked him up. 300 and 3 sounds a tad high.

Whatever is available on the WW will be better than Hartsock. He's a blocking TE that lines up alongside a barely adequate OL in a Mike Mularkey offense... not good. Savage Beatings
Atlanta was obviously looking for someone at TE to be able to step up and be their dump off option for this season. Hartsock might still be the best option that they have for that role. It makes me wonder why they didn't lock up Crumpler.
Tford
Call me crazy but I don't even see Hartsock as the best TE on his own team. Martrez Milner looks to me to be the better receiving TE on the team. Not that I'd recommend grabbing him as a starter.

Not that I'd recommend grabbing him as a starter. +1 I wouldn't expect Milner to be serviceable either but he was considered the most athletic, best receiving TE option ATL had going into the preseason. He finished '07 on IR and started this preseason off with an injury that has kept him out. Because of Milner's injury the team brought in Pollard to catch passes. Now Milner seems like he's healthy again so they cut Pollard. The fact that they brought in Pollard at all should indicate what the team thinks of Hartsock as a receiver. And about Crumpler... ATL is trying to rebuild and he made too much money for a TE coming off knee surgery. He has a little left in him but watching Crumpler lately it's clear his athleticism has dropped considerably from only a few years ago. Hat Trick
What's so funny about Zach Miller? I grabbed him as my backup in as many of my leagues I could, would have had him in all except I ended up with Winslow in one and they have the same bye. He sure has seemed to be Russells' main target, so not sure what you think os so damn funny.....

Zooty
Grab Jermichael Finley. I think GB will use him a lot this season. From Rotoworld Jermichael Finley-TE- Packers Aug. 30 - 11:18 am et The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel hinted that the only thing keeping TE Jermichael Finley off the waiver wire is his third round draft status. Finley reportedly has a "horrendous play or two" every week in the run game. He isn't ready to contribute, but his obvious receiving potential will likely save Finley from the practice squad as the team fears losing him to waivers. I haven't seen it that way. Rotoworld is adding their own opinion, something they do too often. He is a project and expect him to do something mid year. He's like Scheffler, not much of a blocker but explosive as a receiver. \ This is what the story said and is reporter opinion. I don't think much of the Milwaukee reporters Tight end: Almost every game, Jermichael Finley has a horrendous play or two in the run game. Against Tennessee, it came on the final snap of the first half when defensive end Jevon Kearse drove Finley 5 yards back and straight into Kregg Lumpkin, who absorbed a 5-yard loss. The Packers might be better off this year adding a veteran blocker off waivers and going without Finley. But with his size, speed and receiving potential another team surely would claim Finley off waivers." I see no team source here. The waiver list Keg linked to was pretty bare. Tamme(and Barnidge) was there but he's not a starter either. Edited September 3, 2008 by Randall
polksalet
Actually I see a lot of hope with Hartsock. I don't think he will be challenging Antonio Gates anytime soon BUT he is on a young team with a new qb and he is big. They will be running the ball to death with Turner and will be running play action off of it. Young qbs are renowned for dumping off to the te when the rest of the routes go south so I think that bodes well. As for Miller it is pretty obvious his qb is mildly retarded and is a stonoer. Finley is a tsipso he is is either gay and/or a moron (see Benson, Cedric and Williams, Ricky).

The team needs the running game to take pressure off Ryan in my opinion. If the line can prove they can do that later he could be a weapon. CaptainHook
Ok, I can finally say this because I just got him in 32 more homers (I tried to pm you polk, but your inbox is full). Gijon Robinson of the Colts is filling the role that Utecht had last year. Give him a try.

So far, the only argument for Hartsock I've heard... that Ryan is a rookie QB and rookie QBs love their TE so Hartsock might be active. Yes Ryan is a rookie QB but that's really where the slippery slope ends, abruptly. I'm sure Ryan likes his TE... but he'll probably like him more for his ability to protect his backside then his ability to catch a dump off. Has anyone even seen Hartsock? To get close to 300 rec yds he's probably going to have to catch almost 40 passes this season. He's not a receiving threat by any stretch of the imagination. Also, more reality... Mularkey just does not use the TE as a receiver in the passing game.
