MrTed46
I didn't know he was starting so I am posting from fanball: 09/03/08 04:11 PM THE NEWS Seattle coach Mike Holmgren confirmed that Maurice Morris will get the starting nod over Julius Jones in Week 1, according to the Tacoma News Tribune Our View This looks to be an open competition between Maurice Morris and Julius Jones for carries. Look for each player's on field productivity to directly effect work-load. Seahawks: Morris has been impressive 08/31/08 09:31 AM THE NEWS Seahawks running back Maurice Morris has outplayed his counterparts at the position in Seattle, and should see a number of carries, according to Pro Football Weekly. Our View Morris should split carries with with Julius Jones, which limits his fantasy value somewhat unless a clear cut favorite emerges eventually. Savage Beatings
He's still a Free Agent in one of my local leagues. I'm thinking of dropping my 2nd QB (Jason Campbell) for him.

I almost dropped Campbell for him (my 2nd qb) but I dropped Ted Ginn Jr (5th WR) instead. QBs are real slim while some WR are left (hope I didnt make a mistake). Getting a decent RB is far more important Edited September 3, 2008 by MrTed46
theeohiostate
I got Morris in several league. Jones is a bum and Seattle ownership are morons for giving him that large contract. I didn't see anything from Jones at Notre Dame, and still haven't today.

bushwacked
Weird...I know the post references the Tacoma News Tribune, but I'm not seeing it in the local media anywhere...Regardless, Holmgren hinted at co-starters weeks ago.....One of the Seahawks RBs will shake out to have some fair value during the season...good luck on guessing now. BigTen
I got Morris in several league. Jones is a bum and Seattle ownership are morons for giving him that large contract. I didn't see anything from Jones at Notre Dame, and still haven't today. Problem is with that huge contract it will not be easy to sit him. There is not much difference between him and Morris IMHO. Due to that I see more touches for Jones. I own both in different leagues so I do not care who is the guy. However, as I stated whenan owner pays big $$ they do not like to see it on the bench. Besides I saw nothing in preseason to say Jones should not get a chance.

ABearWithFurniture
Forsett is the guy you want to grab. He'll be the starter by mid year.

ReturnToSender
JJ gets the nod in the long run, just because of his speed and ability to break the big plays. Morris is talentless, there is no way in the long run Jones doesn't secure that job, but heck, who knows.
cre8tiff
I had to choose between Chris Johnson as my fourth and Momo. I decided to take a flyer on the rook ALTHOUGH... Momo is still on the WW... And this Chirs Johnson IS fourth behind Lewis, Portis & Kevin Smith... Sgt Ryan
Julius Jones will take that job and run with it. Anyone thinking Mo Morris is better than Julius needs their head examined. Julius didnt get a fair shake here in dallas, and alot of that had to do with how productive Barber is. But Jones has a chance to be pretty good if he gets 20 carries a game. bushwacked
Momo and Julius are very much the same style of runner; but JJ is quite a bit faster when he gets a running lane and has been superb in picking up the blitz on passing downs in pre-season (something Momo and SA never did) . Not sure who is the better receiver. Holmgren is pretty big on rewarding long term service and loyalty....right now I think that might be part of the reason Morris is "starting" this Sunday. Seahawks21
Holmgren said something about a rotation. He doesn't know if that means that Jones starts in week 2 or not. I can assure you this...Mo Morris will not put up good numbers. If you are thinking of dropping someone decent because of this news, don't waste your time. Even if he gets 90% of the carries, he isn't startable unless you have real RB issues. If Julius Jones doesn't outplay Mo, he really is terrible. Mo is a pretty good 3rd down back, but doesn't give you any kind of consistent play between the tackles, which is why they felt they had to bring in a Julius Jones type to begin with. Jones will get every opportunity to make this his job. We already know that Mo is very average at best, so it isn't like Jones isn't going to get opportunities. My hunch says Mo is back to his old role in a few weeks, but if Jones falls on his face, which I don't see happening, this could get interesting. theeohiostate
Just saw in a league where an owner dealt Morris for Josh Scobbie- PK Do you smell that ?
MTSuper7
I drafted Morris in the 15th round... Not sure why the JJ owner didn't take him earlier... I hope MoMo somehow puts up a decent game this week so I can deal him to the JJ owner for added WR depth. I agree that MoMo's season long outlook is pretty bleak. Remember how last year Cam Cameron has Ronnie Brown open the season splitting carries with Jesse Chatman? This smells like a similar strategy by Holmgren, letting Julius know he has to earn the right to start and hasn't been up to snuff so far. It is only a matter of time one would think.
