According to head coach Dick Jauron the decision "came out of the blue" as Crowell will have the surgery in the coming days. "He's out for the game and that's a surprise," said Jauron. It's not a major reconstructive surgery as the routine scope usually requires a 2-3 week rehab before returning to action. Jauron said Keith Ellison will step into the starting lineup to fill the void. keggerz
Link Out for the season... The Bills continue their Old Yeller approach to players injuries. "Hurt a couple weeks?" "Shoot him" Ugh ouch and from your link: In a matter of hours Bills linebacker Angelo Crowell went from starter, to knee surgery, to out for the season. In a day of shocking developments concerning the veteran linebacker, the front office effectively ended Crowell’s season placing him on injured reserve late Thursday. satelliteoflovegm
there has to be more then was let on for him to end up on IR...surely a very big hit to the Bills D but from a fantasy perspective Poz will really benefit from this. I believe the Bills are pissed because he sprang this on them after cut downs. He showed up and says, "I had surgery, 2-4 weeks." They said. "News to us, Angelo, maybe we would have kept an additional LB." He says "Oh well" they say, "Oh well? How does IR suit you in a contract year?" I gotta believe they need to be imformed before he gets a surgery. Keith Ellison played really well last year and they waived a couple decent guys. So hopefully they are still unsigned. keggerz
http://buffalobills.com/blog/index.jsp?post_id=3977 CROWELL SEEKING SECOND OPINION: According to Bills head coach Dick Jauron, LB Angelo Crowell still has not has surgery on his injured knee as he's seeking a second opinion. That still doesn't change his status of being on injured reserve. His 2008 season is effectively over. I am going to go out on a limb and say that Crowell may actually play this year....NOT for the Bills since they put him on IR...however, if he is released or traded to another team he would be eligible for that teams active roster (according to NFL rules a player can't play for THE team that puts them on IR but could for another team)...Crazier things have happened but it looks like this relationship is turning sour fast. An example of this happening in the past you just need to look to last year where the Giants put S Will Demps on IR and then reached an injury settlement with him and he signed with Houston and played for them last year. I was going to ask what would happen if Crowell did not need surgury and ended up getting traded. You must be psychic. I have him in a 32 Team League. I may hold off putting him on IR for a while.
