mroban
So I managed to draft 2 players on the Saints juggernaut offense (good) unfortunately neither played yesterday (Meacham, Deuce). Meacham Im going to take a "Hold" approach to, as I think he is better than Devery and offers more upside than Patten. But seems like Deuce might be a guy to bail on. How did Pierre look yesterday? Is Thomas the man? Would you pick up Thomas and drop Deuce? Or cut bait on the whole situation and pick up a guy like Sammy Morris? Would love to know your thoughts on that situation. (oh and hears to hoping Ike passes you guys by, you need a break).
Cunning Runt
Not a Saints homer by any stretch, but when I was fine-tuning my roster after the draft and before the season started, Deuce was my first drop. I'm not feeling it for him.
i_am_the_swammi
What kind of a league are you in where guys like Thomas and Morris are still available?

rajncajn
Deuce suited yesterday, but didn't play only because the running game was doing fine with PT in there. Keep in mind though, that the only reason why Deuce suited up was because Stecker was out. PT is great & probably has a pretty good future in the NFL, but for the Saints at RB it goes Deuce, Stecker then PT. If Deuce is healthy, he is the man. But when/if he is healthy enough to compete at his former level is the question. I personally stayed away from him in drafts, but if I did have him I certainly wouldn't want to be the guy who dumped him only to see him start the very next week. If Deuce can't go then Stecker is the primary backup because he is better suited to compliment Bush and he's nearly as good at blocking as Deuce. PT, as well as he has played IMO is better as a change-of-pace and/or single back. The monster game he had last year was when both Bush & Deuce were out and since the offense is built around using Bush with a complimentary RB he will never be anything more than that. The only way that will change IMO is if Deuce is gone for one reason or another. This of course is mostly just my personal opinion on PT. But it is a fact that Stecker backs up Deuce & PT backs up everyone. Edited September 8, 2008 by rajncajn
mroban
What kind of a league are you in where guys like Thomas and Morris are still available? The guy that cut Thomas, picked up Stecker and cut Thomas. The guy that cut morris picked up Lamont Jordan on all the hype. tough to keep 2 backups for your backups in our league. But we also keep our rosters unstructured so that you can keep 6 QBs if you want as long as you have the minimum number of players to field a starting team of 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, I K, 1 DEF/ST. You have 18 roster spots. So if a team is weak at WR but strong at RB, they might try to stock up on FA WRs for example, and might cut a fringe RB. In this instance, the hype on Stecker last week caused the PT owner to cut him for Stecker and the Lamont Jordan hype led to Morris being cut (lots of speculation that Jordan had passed Morris on the depth chart).
