Rushmore
Per Rotoworld: http://rotoworld.com/content/Headlines.asp...L&hl=122401 Seahawks lose Nate Burleson for season Coach Mike Holmgren revealed Monday that Nate Burleson tore a ligament in his knee during the Seahawks' Week 1 game. Burleson will be placed on injured reserve, ending his season. Seattle's passing game couldn't be in worse shape. Courtney Taylor was awful in the opener, but is now thrust into the "No. 1 receiver" role. Logan Payne and Jordan Kent, the team's only other healthy receivers, are candidates to start in Burleson's split end spot. Holmgren doesn't expect Deion Branch or Bobby Engram back this week. Matt Hasselbeck's fantasy outlook is declining rapidly, and Holmgren may have to lean on the run more going forward. Sep. 8 - 5:29 pm et From a fantasy perspective, I'm glad I have Courtney Taylor tucked away as my WR6 but this is some pretty awful news as a Seahawks fan. Czarina
Just call me Typhoid Mary. I don't remember offhand WHERE I have Burlseon, but I picked him somewhere this season. Brady, Young, Burleson. Sheesh.

Brady, Young, Burleson. Sheesh. Uh... who else do you have on your team? I may need to start making some trades. And I'd say Branch is probably the better long-term value if you're looking at Seahawk receivers.
yo mama
You've gotta be kidding me. Well, at least that settles the Burleson v. Porter debate for this year.
RylenolFlu
Here's a fun exercise; rank the players as to who will have the better fantasy value by week 5. Branch vs. Engram vs. Taylor.

Medal of Honor
I think Taylor's dropped passes were really out of character for him yesterday. He's going to be a good long-term pickup, at least until midseason when BOTH Engram and Branch are back. Burlesen and Obamanu are on IR now... Should the Seahawks give Terry Glenn a call? Rovers
Brutal, just a brutal start for NFL players and FF in particular. In redrafts, not as big a deal, but in my 16 team deep dynasty leagues.... in one I lost Crowell. Paris Lenon, Burelson, and Porter will be out likely until my season is lost. Courtney Taylor? On someone's practice squad roster. To add some salt to the wound... I dropped Cassel from my pactice squad 2 weeks ago... talk about genius roster moves.... Reminds me of the year Testaverde wrent down with an achilles a year after the Jets made some headway in the playoffs the year before... remember Lucas? Rutgers QB? Season done before it started.... bushwacked
Unbelievable, how do you lose your top 4 WR's before game 2 of the regular season?
Menudo
Unbelievable, how do you lose your top 4 WR's before game 2 of the regular season? Is there any local word on when Branch or Engram will be back? . In my one local, I have Burleson. I'm going to replace him with either Branch, Engram, or Curtis. I can afford to wait as I have some other receivers to play until one is back. Ronald Curry is also available. I've got Meachum as well, and might drop two receivers and pick-up two of the guys I mentioned.
bushwacked
Is there any local word on when Branch or Engram will be back? The buzz is neither Branch or Engram going this week...With a week 4 bye, my guess is Week 5 earliest. Of course, it's completely plausible they could rush them back.....especially if they lose next week.

Seahawks21
They have been hoping for Bobby Engram to be back by the 5th week ever since he got hurt. Deion Branch is still up in the air. He has been doing individual drills for I would say about a month now. The next day is perpetually the day he is supposed to join team drills. He just never does. I agree with Bushwacked, the fact that he isn't practicing yet means it should be after the bye at the earliest. Horn, Glenn and Chad Jackson would all be intriguing, but none have ever played in the west coast offense before, so I don't know how quickly they could contribute anyways. Something tells me that they aren't going to bring anybody in. They will simply activate Michael Bumpus from the practice squad and try again next week. My bet is still that Courtney Taylor is the guy that emerges. Heck, Hasselbeck is still good, and will get some numbers most weeks, so he will turn somebody into an emerging fantasy player. Watch the box score for the first half of next week's game and you should have a good idea which one has gotten some chemistry with Hasselbeck in practice this week. He will be searching for a receiver all week. If somebody can play, he will find out this week and go to him often. I think you have to bump Carlson a bit. He looked good and Putzier looked real bad. They tried to use Putzier as the primary TE on passing downs, and he looked awful and had a few critical drops. Carlson caught everything thrown his direction. He will surely play more from this point forward. He isn't a Greg Olsen type but he seems to be a pretty smart player with good hands. Really, it doesn't matter who they throw at WR right now. If the OL doesn't drastically improve, the Seahawks are in real trouble. Mike Wahle looked old, slow, and weak, which I really didn't expect. Rob Sims may be the worst starting guard in the NFL. It is time to give up on that guy. Chris Spencer is below average. After three quarters, our two "starting" tailbacks had mustered all of 2 yards. Just can't win that way. And ohhhhh yeah, all you guys that were annointing Jordan Kent as the next big deal, now is your time to step up, unless you were simply all talk before. Now if you tell everybody to pick him up, I'm not gonna tell you otherwise. The kid is gonna get his shot. Just one more thing, how many 4 receiver sets did the Hawks run last week? Jordan Kent played how many plays before Burleson went down? Edited September 9, 2008 by Seahawks21
Czarina
How did Hasselbeck look out there? is his back problem obvious when he's out there playing?
