mhorn
I'm really new to using the DE position. I currently have A Schobel on my team, but have noticed some experts saying great things about J Smith on the 49ers. I like the idea of having a defender on the 49ers since their offense is so bad. should I drop Schobel for Smith? Leagues scoring system: Fumble Recoveries 2 points each Forced Fumbles 1 point each Interceptions Caught 2 points each Passes Defensed 1 point each Blocked Field Goals 4 points each Blocked Punts 3 points each Blocked Extra Points 2 points each Tackles 1.5 points each Assists 0.5 points each Sacked a QB 2 points each Safeties 4 points each Defensive TDs 6 points each
darin3
I don't think any experts would say that Schobel, a perennial top-10 or higher DL, is going to do worse than Justin Smith. Many experts were down on Smith in the preseason due to the fact that the Niners were going to use him in a "hybrid" role, but ... at least last week ... it looked like this role could keep him on the field and able to make some plays. I still wouldn't drop Schobel for him.

I agree...for the most part "experts" were worried that Smith was/is to undersized to play DE in a 3-4 scheme....he also had his designation changed to LB and then back to DE so there is always that to worry about going forward too..... I still say that its Schobel>>>Smith
