My local league which is 12 guys who all went to High school together has a free for all for waivers. Its annoying, but its the kind of league where no one will ever agree to change anything. I go to all the Patriots games which I would much rather do than sit at home watching a computer screen so I can be the first to pick someone up.

Also, when I am not at the game I would still rather watch the games on TV than stress out over picking guys up. I would love for a new waiver rule in that league, but like I said no one would ever change it.

Good topic by the way.

All five of my leagues use blind bidding followed by first come, first served. BB is the fairest way to go, IMHO. I hate worst to first; why reward a team that sucks? Where is their incentive to make trades and get better?

i think the incentive to get better is that your team starts winning, right?????

players are on waiver for a reason.....they weren't drafted! yes, every now and then you find diamonds in the rough (ryan grant last year).

In my 12 team standard scoring league I am very confused to their waiver rules.

Most leagues initially start the order of waiver on the position of the draft pick...Top draft picks are lower on the waiver list UNTIL the 2nd week, then it is based on record and amount of points.

There is also an adjustment based on whether you have picked up a player or not. In other words, the team that got the last player off waivers gets dumped to the bottom of the list and/or under teams that haven't picked up a player yet.

However, in that 12 team league I don't get it.

The other day a team dropped a kicker...They won this week and got 1st in line and were awarded a receiver today...

WHAT THE HECK????????

Oh, that team just happens to be the commish.....I SMELL monkey business.

This is what we do as well. Everyone starts the year with $2000 in "play money" and we blind bid on Tuesdays, followed by open drop/adds Wednesday morning through kickoff of the the first game of the week at which time rosters lock for the week.

One you've shot your wad on the $2k, you can still drop/add, just not bid on anyone.

This is the first year we are using waivers in our league. (we start 1 qb, 2 rb, 3 wr, 1 te, 1 k, 1 def). Our rules are:

1) Add drops must be emailed to commish. It is a first come, first serve basis.

2) Add drops allowed on like players only! (must drop a WR to pick up WR).

3) For weeks with thurs games you must send email by that wed by 5:00 pm.

4) For weeks with just weekend games you must send email by that thurs by 5:00 pm

5) No add drops are allowed once playoffs start.

6) Everyone has 3 free add/drops. There are two optional add/drops which cost $10 each. That makes a maximum of 5 you can use.

I did not want anyone to abuse the add drops so I put a limit on them. Only Commish has ability to add/drop for teams in league. If owners go over three they must pay as they are improving their odds at winning.

In both my leagues, waivers run worst to first starting week 3 but as of this year we starting doing random draw for the order in the 1st two weeks. The logic being that those two weeks can often be among the most important weeks for waivers and the spirit of worst to first being a way to level the playing field doesn't make much sense when you've barely played any games. So we don't want to "reward" a team with first crack in the "best guy not to get drafted" sweepstakes for merely putting up a dog week out the gate.

We have a late draft so no waivers in Week 1. So now we start worst to first based on YTD total points, reset every week. Yes this sometimes means a team with a better win-loss record gets an earlier pick, but in our league YTD total points has prize money equal to the super bowl winner. Sometimes it's the same team that wins, but 3 out of the last 4 years it was not. This is a 10-team redraft league with a 4-team playoff. Smaller prizes are given to the super bowl loser and the consolation game winner.

The worst to first is done in rounds, by the way. The team with the lowest point total only gets one pick in the first round, followed by the team with next lowest, and so on. It's not like the worst team can pick up 3 or 4 of the top adds if they want. They do have to make the request, of course, and sometimes some of the lower teams fail to put in a request before processing, even though we give a generous time (no processing until Friday at noon). Between Friday and Sunday we have first come, first serve waivers. (The NFL screws us up with all these Thursday games, but we just push the processing up and have less free-for-all time.) This is the way we've done it for years, and it seems to work well.

I really hate first come first serve only or rolling picks. Why should the person who just manages to get their pick in first have first pick? Why should the team leading the league running away have an early pick?

Not to hijack the thread here, but what league management software do you fellas use? Any of them on Sportsline?

We email the commish our waiver pickups from first to last. The priority rolls based first on reverse draft order, then on how many picks you make week to week. The commish process the "secret" moves based on priority first, then opens the wire.We allow the wire to be open from saturday to sunday gametime incase there are any last minute inactives. Very move you make moves you back to the end of the line.

No, sir. All five leagues are on MFL.

MFL has the capability to use both blind bidding for part of the week and then FCFS for the rest? Evidently, it must.

I have been trying to get our leagues to move from Sportsline but I have had no luck so far(I have worked my way into co-commish status in both so hopefully I will be able to have a little more influence in the future...). Too many of the guys are lazy and its just easier for them to stay on Sportsline since we're already set up there and its easy enough that even the most non-techies in the league can figure it out. Anyways, we tried to go with Sportsline's version of blind bidding this year (FAAB) but it looks like the system doesnt have the capability of using bidding for the first part of the week but then opening it up for the remainder of the week. Or, at least it doesnt appear as though it does. Looks like if you go with the FAAB process on Sportsline, ALL adds are done via bid and that kinda sucks as late in the week an owner ought to be able to immediately grab a FA without waiting on a bid to go through.

Anyone know if there is a way to manipulate Sportsline to do this or is it just that limited?

P.S. Again, sorry for the slight hijack...

I actually have one owner in my local who complains about everything (hates MFL, we used ESPN the previous 2 years) and now he's on my case about why it isn't FCFS at all times, his reasoning is that they are FREE agents and he should be able to pick up anyone at any time and that our waivers rules are seriously out of whack. I stated I could find thousands to back up the setup and he claims he could find thousands the other way. I am in a yahoo league and there were people adding and dropping during the games. That just drives me nuts. We are set up for 8 different categories, but starts with record, head to head, points, div record, conf record etc. He's on my case royally and wont let down, he proposing a change to the league, although I am pretty sure we will have most back me up.....still though I can;t crack him no matter what I say. I think the waivers of who ever gets to the PC first or is sitting on it all day and grabs said player first is WEAK.

I was gonna start the same topic.
