driveby
A few months ago the wife and I came up with a new idea for deciding where we were going for dinner on Wednesdays. We take turns picking a restuarant based on the following guidelines; 1. We've never been there or even talked about going there 2. No chains 3. 30 minute drive or less 4. The other person will/should like it It's kinda cool when it's your turn to pick trying to come up with a new place and a lot of fun not knowing where you are going when it's the other persons turn to choose until you get there. Only a few minor clunkers so far but a lot of places we will go back to. Probably not an option for small towns, but within 30 minutes of the house here literally thousands of choices. What a great way to not only support the owner operated places in your area but to keep things fresh for the two of you. Any of us who are married know all too well that it's super easy to get caught up in a rut of doing the same damned thing every night or wasting precious time together dealing with crap like bills. It's great to have something like this to look forward to. Well done.

Big Country
Awesome idea. My wife and I do something simiar ofr our anniversary. Each year one person plans it, be it a day or a weekend, or whatever. They are in charge of the entire event so that it is a complete surprise for the other person. Makes it fun for both.
