D. Henderson?

I've seen him picked up this week as a free agent in several leagues. He obviously isn't a consistent point producer, but if someone is desperate enough for a receiver, why not give him a shot? He's got one of the best QB's in the NFL throwing the rock.

Because he has hands of rock. The kool aid is as bad as the batch J. Jones made.

I understand. All I'm saying is some fantasy team owners might need a WR bad enough to acquire him.

As I've stated before, I think Patten is the better player to acquire. But, if Patten isn't available, there is certainly nothing wrong with taking a shot on Henderson. Just don't be surprised if he's all or nothing.... 80-yard TD catch one week, nothing the next. He seems to be more of the homerun type of receiver, who doesn't have good enough hands to get a lot of looks. I wouldn't touch him in a PPR league, that's for sure, unless I had explored all other options. This week, for example, I picked up guys like Matt Jones, Muhammed, Hilliard, and Randle El before Henderson in PPR leagues. He's just far too inconsistent.

True but unless you have a crystal ball to let you know the one or two weeks of the season that he will catch more than 3 passes for over 50 yds you will be putting up 0-7 pts a week.

Just a note on this, because there seems to be a consensus that somehow Patten is more "consistent" than Henderson. He isn't. I just checked Patten's 2007 game log, which is just about all you can check, because he was completely missing between last year and his Patriot years.

Patten in '07 was all over the place, just like Henderson:

Week 4: 0 for 0

Week 5: 8 for 113

Week 6: 2 for 29

Week 7: 5 for 109

Week 8: 4 for 81 and a score....getting a trend going here?

Week 9 : 3 for 37

Week 10: 2 for 29

Week 11: 2 for 17 guess not.

I don't think either of these guys is the answer. I have Colston out and I'm going elsewhere for numbers this week at WR.

wasn't Colston playing then?....when the other option is Henderson instead of Colston, it changes the way you go through your progression...

Patten is clearly more the possession receiver than Henderson is...

Henderson reminds me of Jett (Oakland WR 10 years ago or so)... tantalizing speed, big-play promise, the occasional 80 yard touchdown, but not good enough to be productive day in and day out. I watched people draft Jett hoping 'this was the year he put it together' and then eventually he'd be benched the game he'd catch his long touchdown.

I see it all over again with Henderson. I don't think there's reason to even jump on him given all the other options NO has, and especially given Henderson can basically only run one route (fly/streak). Patten, Shockey, Bush, Moore (they still have him? I don't have time to check), Meachem... what makes anyone think that Henderson is going to 'take over' the passing game from all those other guys when he's been historically unable to?

I'm impressed you remember James Jett!!

And as for the guy talking about Patten's numbers with Colston there, I'm comparing him to Henderson over the same period being just inconsistent. You're right BOTH could just be better.

BUT- there's too many variables to process here. With Shockey in town, and Bush pulling in 8 catches last week. The possession receiver could very well not be a "receiver.". Place your bets, spin the wheel...
