Todd1
The guy in my league who took Brady also didn't take a backup QB. Yes, dumb, even though I was telling him in about round 10 that he might want to take someone like Warner... Anyway, so I have Garrard and Bulger, two guys who look like they're going to have very rough years. I had the 2nd waiver after getting blown out this week. So I debated and debated taking Cassel or Royal, finally deciding on Cassell. So today I'm getting grief for 'taking' Cassel away from him, when I knew he didn't have a QB. This is from a guy who is always in the playoffs and normally a smart/competent owner. Just curious what kind of fallout there has been with your waivers this week- who did the Brady-less guy get, did he biatch and complain, etc.
chubbyparrot
Same deal with me...now he's pouting because I won't trade one of my 3 workable quarterbacks for less than a premium to him. He now has Bulger starting and picked up Ryan as his back up...get out the Waaaaambulance! Edited September 12, 2008 by chubbyparrot
CaptainHook
Brady owner was third on the waiver wire and got Cassel, but he also had Kitna as a back-up. He's ok.
monster2333
Brady owner in my local traded away Toothlessberger before Week 1 for Selvin Young, leaving him without a backup. Waivers today - he picked up... wait for it... wait for it... Chad Pennington and Tavaris Jackson Ouch.
CaptainHook
Pennington is not going to have a bad year. You will be surprised.
xMRogers
Luckily we do blind bidding (real dollar) waivers, so I was able to get Cassel (I was the Brady owner). I would definitely find anyone complaining about something like that to be a big whiner - breaks of the game, figure it out....

Double Agent
Anyway, so I have Garrard and Bulger, two guys who look like they're going to have very rough years. Are we giving up on Garrard already?
gilthorp
In the leagues I didn't have Brady, I didn't bid on him because I don't need Cassel. In the leagues I have Brady, I bid on Cassel. I've never seen the point of bidding on a player I don't really need just to pimp someone. But there's nothing wrong with the people that do that and the owner who gets the short end of the deal has no right to complain. So, if my blind bid doesn't go through for Cassel tonight in 55 minutes, I'll be left with Tavaris Jackson and there's really nobody else left except Kerry Collins, Kyle Orton, and others...so I better get him, and it's going to cost me a ton of waiver dollars. Chargerz
I lost Brady in 2 leagues. I got Cassel in both...one with a high bid and the other because I was second on the waiver wire. I didn't have much choice.
Ice717
Guy in my league had Brady and Garcia, (you have to have two QBs on the roster). He hasnt picked up anyone just yet. I guess he's trying to figure out which white hot needle to stick in his eye. Did I mention its a 14 team league?? So he's got slim pickins... Sounds like if he's lucky he may have Orten and Flacco. Although I shouldn't laugh because the fantasy gods may punish me next week. piratesownninjas
Are we giving up on Garrard already? I think a lot of it has to do with his line falling apart.
vonromig
In my league, the team that had Brady went after Brett Favre, while the team who grabbed Cassel picked him up for nearly nothing and already has Romo and Rodgers... Once again proving that I have a bunch of smart guys in my league. Afterall, only Pats fans would think of Cassel as anything more than an Orton-like player... a back-up wannabe. And if he does well... then he's the next Bulger. But why take the risk when your fantasy team is on the line and needs a good QB to compete. justin
I had Brady in two leagues. Didn't get Cassel in either, but would never whine about it. In one league, I drafted Schaub as a back-up. I like Schaub's upside and think AJ is one of the best WRs in the game to help Schaub get some nice numbers. HOU's RB situation doesn't help the passing game, but I do think that they have some young talent back there. I also picked up JT O'Sullivan for free, versus spending my entire wad on Cassel. I think that QBs are to much of a crap shoot to pin everything on one guy, and I'm not sold on Cassel. With that logic, you may ask why I had Brady in the first place - and the answer is because this league is a keeper league and I had Brady from a few years back. In my other league, I have Bulger as my back-up and I much would have like to get Cassel here. But I won in week 1 and this league has a waiver system based on standings, so I pretty much knew that I wasn't getting Cassel. I also went with JT here, but there are a few other servicable QB FA's that I likely will back to and grab one more.

I won Cassell in OUTRAGED even though I jave Brees as my starter, but my backup is Vince Young so I felt like Cassell would help when need be hopefully. (unless you are over-powered by Patriot egotism) Von +1 I was the Brady owner in my main local league. I had Favre as my backup. I still wanted to pick someone else up and Rivers was still out there along with Cassel. If it was only Cassel out there as an option, I would have treded with someone to get another QB. Cassel has not started a game since high school. Remember Moss in Oakland? I, fo one, am not buying into the hype. The guy who had Brees in my league bid $52 of his $100 blind bid dollars to grab him so he had trade leverage. We all just laughed at him. Todd1
Are we giving up on Garrard already? I didn't cut him, but it's looking ugly with 3 starting linemen and the top backup out. He doesn't look promising for this week and I couldn't pass on Cassel, possibly going 0-2 for the year.
rai
my league I had Brady and a late late pick Rivers. we have first come first serve WW and I missed Cassel so I had to pick Pennington or T. Jackson. Reluctanlty I picked Jackson. Honestly I don't see Cassel being a stud at all. I guess we will see. Pats do have an easy schedule but I think teams will be pumped up to play a Brady-less Pats. Edited September 12, 2008 by rai
loaf
our local has a roster limit of 2 QBs per team (10 teamer). The Brady owner got Cassel off waivers but could have taken Rodgers...
whomper
I am a Brady Owner but I drafted AAron Rodgers late . I got whooped last week with Tom putting up a big 0 so I have # 1 waiver this week. I am probably going to grab a back or wr and then grab a qb in my 2nd turn in the rotation. I am perfectly happy with Rodgers. Edited September 12, 2008 by whomper
femmefootball
I was the Brady owner, but we have a 2QB legue so I had Palmer and Russell also drafted. But to cover my bye weeks... I got Kerry Collins. (We have no wait on picking up free agents <which Cassel was> so someone beat me to him when Brady went down by less than 5 minutes.) We'll see how that plays out in the end... but I'm not complaining. Of course, I might be hoping that Vince Young doesn't feel like playing... Or I might end up trading a studly RB for another QB... We'll see.
Savage Beatings
I was a Brady owner and was outbid for Cassell. No big deal to me. Without Brady I don't stand much of a chance to compete this year, so it didn't really upset me to see that I don't have his backup (who frankly almost didn't even make the team this season). buddahj
the brady owner in my local has payton manning as his no. 2. yes, that's right. he drafted two qb's with his first two picks. we all made fun of him for it. who's laughing now.
