So I'm wondering how the impact of a potential long term switch or even the impact of this weeks games has on Joey with Griese at QB. Does anyne have any stats on Galloway with Griese runnign the show....my memory slips me of this one. Anyone?

As a Galloway owner, I had the same question. I saw somewhere that Griese had started the first 6 games of 2005 for TB, so I went back and checked out the stats and saw that Griese to Galloway worked pretty well in those first 6 games:

G1: 5 for 97 yds

G2: DNP

G3: 5 for 53 yds, 2 TDs

G4: 7 for 166 yds, 1 TD

G5: 5 for 87 yds

G6: 9 for 96 yds, 1 TD

I'd think there would be no dropoff in Galloway's looks and even reason for optimism, assuming Galloway is now healthy (or as close to healthy as he'll be at his age). There's a small and somewhat dated Griese/Galloway stat sampling:

Galloway's pre-Griese stint numbers:

111 games, 3.9 catches per game, 62 yards per game, 0.53 TDs per game

14 games with Griese in 2004-2005:

60 catches, 867 yards, 9 TD (4.2 catches per game, 62 yards per game, 0.64 TDs per game)

Galloway's numbers post-Griese:

42 games, 4.2 catches per game, 69 yards per game, 0.45 TDs per game

No dropoff with Griese throwing, even a slight uptick in the TDs. Again, it's a small sample and it's info from three and four years ago.

You could also look at Bernard Berrian's numbers with Griese at the helm in Chicago last year, since he strikes me as more of a Galloway type (certainly than Muhammad). Again, they were slightly higher with Griese (4.8 rpg, 64 ypg, 0.33 TDpg) than without (4.2 rpg, 56 ypg, 0.3 TDpg).

I've been a Galloway fan, primarily because he's the kind of guy you can get late or for cheap who will give you enough to be a very good fantasy WR3 and even a decent WR2. Griese replacing Garcia, short or long term, does nothing to discourage that opinion.

Hope that helps

excellent analysis. As a Galloway owner I have him plugged in as my WR2 while Steve Smith is suspended. I think there's no dropoff with Griese.
