Easy n Dirty
Our league has an IR option, but players may only be placed on the fantasy league IR if they are listed as OUT or are on IR in the NFL. This became problematic last season when the NFL changed its injury reporting practices, because the formal NFL injury report comes out on Friday, whereas we do waivers on Thursdays (meaning a fantasy franchise with an injured player would not be able to IR him for Thursday waivers and would be stuck with whatever is left in FCFS free agency). MFL addressed this by giving leagues an option to translate the NFL Practice Report (issued on Wednesdays) into an injury report for purposes of determining if a player is eligible for IR. The translation works as follows: Limited participation = questionable; full participation = probable; did not participate = doubtful, and out = out. This raises a question as to what the Practice Squad categories really mean - are there any consqequnces to an NFL team for listing a guy on one category or another on the Practice Report? This became a minor issue this week as the Jets listed Mike Nugent as OUT on the Practice Report, meaning his owner was able to IR him, whereas the Saints listed Colston as Did Not Participate, meaning his owner was not able to IR him and will not be able to do so until today's Injury Report is issued, when he will presumably be listed as OUT.
