Joseph Addai

Is Joseph Addai just a victim of a tough schedule?

I am a Colts homer, but I live in Phoenix, and dont get a lot of the inside information. I do have the ticket so I dont miss any games, but this is the 2nd week in a row that he looked rough.

Here we are finishing week 2, and the Addai owner is starting to panic and asked if I have any interest. His asking price will be high however due to Addai being a first rounder.

His TD SURE helped but his performance was REAL bad. To his credit, Min is probably the best team in the NFL against the run and add the fact that their OLine is quetionable.

I am an Addai owner in my local and I sure hope he comes out of his poor performance. The two hardest defenses are done with so I think things will improve from here on out.

IF Manning can return to old form and make defenses pay through the air, that will naturally open holes for Addai.

Addai is both the victim of having faced two really good run defenses and (mostly) a banged-up O-line. I suspect that his production will increase when Saturday and Lilja return. It also didn't help that Colts O-line coach Howard Mudd was back in Indy yesterday recovering from knee surgery, so he couldn't even be there to make adjustments on the sideline.

Being able to run the ball effectively and not having to run for his life on every other play would make Peyton's job a lot easier.

Going through the same here and have been told, repeatedly, to have patience, which I will, but sitting at 0-2, and not getting anything from Edwards as well, my patience is wearing thin. Hopefully, the O-line problems will be corrected, Manning will shake-off the rust, and us Addai owners can enjoy a productive stretch from our #1 pick!

Right now I'm hating Addai, but the one thing that made me sit up and take notice is they gave him the rock at the goal line with the game on the line. That shows a lot of confidence considering the way that he ran. I'd take a leap of faith and say that Tom Moore and Peyton are a little bit better atevaluating the personnel then me. So I'm going to trust them and keep on pluggin him.

confidence? ummmm did you not see Payton trying to sneak it in 2 times before giving it to Addai.

You do not agree with me that Manning seems a little rusty?

A little in the first game, but not yesterday. I thought that he did pretty well considering that his offense was one-dimensional and Jared Allen was constantly blowing past his O-line. If he had MIN's O-line, you would've been looking at 2 or 3 TDs and zero picks.

The schedule honestly doesn't get much better. The bye week in week 4 stings too. I guess HOU looks good on paper week 5.

JAX matchup in week 3 offers some hope because their home and these teams often go at it - but I am still pretty down on this guy. I don't fault him personally, but the Colts offense just isn't clicking yet.

That team in your sig doesn't even seem fair. Is it an 8 man league with monkeys?

Here's my take on Addai. BUY LOW. He's going to be worth a round 1 draft position as the year goes on. HE's just in a slump, as is LT. Buy low, buy low!

Sure - he's so low right now it's definately worth trying to get him on the cheap. At least he is healthy.

LT - not sure, I'd sooner take a flier on Sproles...

............but the playoffs do look pretty nice, considering I don't think they'll have enough wins to bench their players:

Week 14: vs. CIN

Week 15: vs. DET

Week 16: @ JAX

all you have to do is get to the playoffs.........by then they'll have Clark and Saturday back..........patience, patience

What do Jeff Saturday, Ryan Lilja, and Mike Pollak have in common? They are Colts offensive line starters, and they have yet to play a down in the regular season. Their entire interior line is back-ups right now. Saturday MIGHT be back this week vs. Jax. Lilja is on PUP and can't be back until Week 6. Pollak had arthroscopic knee surgery, and will hopefully be back after the bye.

Against Minny, their starting LT, Tony Ugoh got hurt in the second quarter and had to leave the game. So they were starting 4 reserves on the offensive line. Oh yeah, Dallas Clark also missed the game.

And Peyton IS rusty. He started to come out of it at the end of the third and into the fourth yesterday. Once he gets back up to speed, teams will find it difficult to focus on Addai.

And by the way, as was already mentioned, Chicago and Minny both have pretty good defenses.

Why I don't like addai is he taps out to much...what I mean is he'll make a couple of runs and then tap his helmet to come out and it's usually around the goal line...I like the guys who won't even look at the coach, he'll just get up and run to the huddle and they'll have to yell to get his attention to come out..ALA Marion Barber..LJ..LTb4injury...Shaun A..These guys are tough grinders who want to play..

Addai's value hinges on the passing game. Once Manning starts clicking, which could coincide with the O-line getting healthy, they will start opening gaping holes in the running game once again. I also think that the fact that Manning can't make the handoff on their panted stretch play hurts. It's taking away the legitimacy of one of the Colts best weapons, the play action pass. We all know that Addai isn't among the top 10 most talented backs in the league. His value comes from the fact that teams can't focus on him.
