Adrian Peterson (MN)

An eventful Wednesday at Winter Park included running back Adrian Peterson's name being listed on the injury report.

Peterson had limited participation in practice because of a hamstring injury. Peterson carried the ball 29 times for 160 yards against the Colts on Sunday. He also had a team-high four catches for 20 yards.

The team doesn't have to list Peterson's status until Friday. Peterson and backup Chester Taylor worked with new starting quarterback Gus Frerotte on handoff exchanges after practice.

"You need two running backs in this league," Taylor said. "Any given play, a running back can go down. You've got to have depth at running back. I believe we have that right now."

Taylor shared the load with Peterson the first half of last season, but he is the clear backup now. He has nine carries for 37 yards in two games.

"Adrian is our starting running back right now, so I'm backing him up with whatever they need me to do," he said.

Asked if he's OK with his role, Taylor said: "Nobody is ever OK going from starting to backing up. But I want to win right now. Whatever helps us to win, I'm willing to do."

That includes returning kickoffs. Taylor had a 31.0-yard average on three kickoff returns against the Colts.

"I haven't done it since I was in Baltimore," he said. "It's just like me being a running back. I got the ball in my hands. Just read the hole."

it may be nothing big this week... but he's showing some wear and tear.. and as an owner who has kept Chester Taylor on his roster in hopes that A.D. goes down.. all I can say is...

MUuauahahhahahahhaaa.........

it looks to me like your entire rb corps is based on you hoping people go down! that might be the wrost I've seen in a 10 teamer!

OR MAYBE... I used 9th and 12th on Moss and TO.. as 10th and 11th picked Lynch and Portis........2 teams in the 2nd round chose romo and manning, the other guys chose WRS, and a guy chose willis.. and I got FITZGERALD...

BRADY goes down.. I traded FITZ + Favre to that Brady owner for his Wayne as his only backup was HASSELBACK who also lost his 3rd and last vet receiver in the same week..

GOLLY!

I'm not sure why they don't keep spelling Peterson more with Taylor - I'm not suggesting Peterson isn't worthy of the time - he certainly is, but if he remains an accident waiting to happen with the extra work. I could definitely see Taylor getting plenty of work if the going is tough for AP - which it seems to be with the tough defenses they have faced to date, and more on the way this week.

Seems Childress has his mind firmly on keeping his job - first running Peterson exclusively, and now the switch to Frerotte (which I think is necessary). Even tho it was just preseason, Gus looked pretty good to me in reading and delivering the ball - even when rushed. I am really interested to see how he can move the offense - hopefully an occasional accurate throw from him can get them a win or two quickly, and take some of the pressure off the running game from time to time.

Adrian Peterson - RB (rank: 1), Minnesota

Adrian Peterson (hamstring) was held out of all phases of Vikings practice Thursday.

Fantasy Source spin: This is a downgrade for Peterson, who went through a limited workout on Wednesday. Coach Brad Childress strongly indicated that A.P. could be a game-day call for Sunday's 1PM game vs. Carolina: "He didn't participate today so that probably says what it says. DNP. It's a concern. Your legs are your legs. We'll just see how he comes out by the time we get to Sunday."

 Isn't it kinda weird? Change in QB, AD's hamstring? All in the same week? We heard about QB change and then AD's injury......The last two things I want to hear as far as any fantasy player are......"Turf Toe and Hamstring injury". I think there may be......some collusion going on in Vike's country.....What better way to take the public eye off "Gus" and the QB change, We will Just rest AD and mention hamstring...enough said! But I hope for all you AD owners the injury isn't that serious. I think its a smoke screen..."Disclaimer, My Opinion"!

He limped off the field last week and the announcers noted it.

The Vikings need a win this week, and they face a very tough opponent in Carolina. Childress needs a win this week even more so than the team, which is why he abruptly pulled the plug on the Tarvaris experiment only 2 weeks into the season. I'm sure Chilly got the hotline phone call from Ziggy telling him to win or pack his bags. Being desparate for a win means Childress is going to give Peterson the ball a lot this week. He is resting him up now in order to milk him for as much Sunday production as possible. That's not necessarily the best for Peterson's long-term health, but it will buy Childress another week and it will keep us FFers happy. All just my humble opinion of course.
