SheikYerbuti
I'd never been to a hibachi place before. We went a few days ago for a family birthday. I gotta say, it was pretty fun. The food was not bad at all. Started with miso soup and salad (I always forget to ask for that ginger dressing on the side. . .hate that stuff!). I had salmon and scallops for my entree. The chef's shtick was entertaining and not nearly as awkward as I expected it to be. And most important, I batted 1.000 when it came to catching flying food in my mouth. Thumbs up from here! Chief Dick
Hibachi = 3x the cost for normal chinese takeout.
SheikYerbuti
Hibachi = 3x the cost for normal chinese takeout. Our local place was running a special. 1/2 price on all hibachi and sushi rolls. It came out to about $14/person.

policyvote
Hibachi = 3x the cost for normal chinese takeout. Yeah, my corner takeout place always has prime rib, filet mignon, lobster tails, shrimp, scallops, sushi, beer, wine, liquor, and sake. I don't know why I keep going to my favorite hibachi grill 1-2 times a year. Peace policy
Jimmy Neutron
Thought this was a DIY hibatchi thread. I take one of those little buggars to the drive in and duck hunting.

policyvote
What's your corner takeout place? We go to Ukai for their hibachi. At home, we favor Charlie Kang's II on S. Cedar. I work on the west side, and there's a little mom-and-pop joint called Canton (literally, he cooks, she's FOH, if they're not there the store's closed) that I love for the Sezchuan chicken. And yes, the Ukai is our perennial favorite. Went there with my wife after prom, for anniversaries, birthdays, and occasionally just because. Great stuff. MojoMan
I think you mean teppan yaki. A hibachi is a little cast iron grill that New Yorkers used to use on their balconies.
