i_am_the_swammi
At Reid's noon presser, he commented that the X-rays came back negative, and there is no signifiant ligament damage to Westbrook's ankle. Spoke like he will take the week to heel, and he will be a dreaded GTD come Sunday night. MRI to come later today, but he appeared improved. From the Delco Times: Reid: Westbrook is day to day By the Times Staff 09/22/2008 Email to a friendPost a CommentPrinter-friendly Eagles coach Andy Reid said star running back Brian Westbrook is hobbled by a sprained ankle and his availability is day-to-day. Advertisement But Reid said he still hoped to have Westbrook available Sunday night when the Eagles travel to Chicago for a prime time match with the Chicago Bears. Westbrook was injured in the second quarter of the Eagles big win against the Steelers when he tried to leap a pile of bodies, but came down on the leg of a teammate and turned his ankle. Westbrook went to the lockerroom and did not return to the field. The Eagles' offense struggled to score points in Westbrook's absence. Reid said Westbropok was on crutches after the game, but that he was walking without them this morning, albeit with a limp. "He's limping around today without the crutches. We'll see how he does. It'll be a day-to-day situation," Reid said. "We'll try to get him ready for Sunday." Westbrook was due for an MRI on the injured ankle later today. Avernus
as an Eagles fan I'd like to see him sit a week and come back fresh the following game..
eags
i don't have him on my team, but i hope he doesn't miss any time. the fantasy world already lost brady and it now sucks watching the patriots. it will be worse watching philly without westy. if we keep losing all the fantasy elite, then what the hell are we gonna do? NO MORE INJURIES PLEASE!

NO MORE INJURIES PLEASE! Well, I hear you in terms of wanting to see Westy out there but so far Buckhalter seems a whole lot more fun to watch than Cassel. Dude looked pretty damned good yesterday and that jump into the endzone was outstanding.
BillyBalata
At Reid's noon presser, he commented that the X-rays came back negative, and there is no signifiant ligament damage to Westbrook's ankle. Maybe a Dr can correct me if I'm wrong....but x-rays will only show if there is any bones broken/damaged. You can't see ligaments in x-rays, you need to have the MRI before you can make that determination.
GReatONE
I read the MRI came back and there was no indication of damage to the ankle. The FF gods have answered my prayers!

i_am_the_swammi
http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...6&sport=NFL Excellent news. Its great that they don't expect him to play against Washington....especially since the rest of the team will be in Chicago playing the Bears Sunday Night. forever in debt to mo lewis
mcnabb was like 13-13 for 100 yards in the first quarter....i cant quite rememeber exactly at what point westbrook left the game....but mcnabb didnt hit 200 yards on the day....and his completion percentage dropped signifigantly(although i guess thats to be expected).... buckhalter didnt look too bad though...amazing with all the knee problems the guys had through his career that he still with the same club and looking pretty good

Exactly what I was thinking when I read it. You'd think the roto guys would stay on top of their games.
RylenolFlu
Per Rotoworld.com: "Speaking on ESPN Radio 950 in Philadelphia, Brian Westbrook said his injury was "closer to being a high ankle sprain" than anything else. "But at the same time," Westbrook continued, "A high ankle sprain depends on the person." A high ankle sprain doesn't sound great, but Westbrook sounded to be in good spirits and said he already felt better after starting his rehab on Monday. Westbrook says he'll try to play Sunday if he's close to ready. If the injury is a high ankle sprain, that seems to be a longshot." In his own words, kind of scaring me. Really don't like the sound of "closer to being a high ankle sprain".

RylenolFlu
What makes you think you wasted bucks on Bucky?
i_am_the_swammi
What makes you think you wasted bucks on Bucky? Probably because he spent a decent amount of his FA dollars on a guy who will, it appears, fill -in for just a week at most...if that. Yesterday, buying Buck may have been getting you the Eagles tailback for the remainder of the season.

i_am_the_swammi
Yeah, you're quite the optimist. Not really. With no break, and no ligament damage, I don't see him out for an extended-period of time....especially not while he is trying to get is contract re-done, and the main complaint most have against him is his durability. He'll be on the field ASAP. But to STLFan's post about wasting money on Buck, I think he probably got him in a FCFS waivers system, and paid more than he wanted with the idea he might be getting a long-term starter. With no break and no ligament damage to Westbrook, Buck certainly isn't a long-term starter.

I grabbed thinking I may have "the man" for the rest of the year, and instead got a short-termer at best. It's a calculated risk to be sure, and though I'm going to hang on to him, it looks like I lost. No biggie.
