splotchman
NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that Marc Bulger will be benched this week for Trent Green.
Big John
Coming around full circle? Trent Green's injury in training camp in 1999 brought up Kurt Warner to MVP that year.
jaxfactor
That'll last as long as it takes for Green to get his first(and last) concussion of his career. With that O-line it may happen this week.
Square
Anybody think this is good news for St. Louis? I haven't gotten to see any of the games but have mainly heard that Bulger wasn't the main problem. As an Sjax owner...anything positive would be nice. Side note: Does anybody know why Green didn't retire after that last concussion in Miami? I can't figure it out for the life of me. Football is great and all but seriously.... Riffraff
This move should put a nail in Linehan's coffin. Might want to work on that defense a little coach.
cre8tiff
Bulger was holding on to the ball wayy too long. Hopefully Green would be able to pull the trigger. I think Bulger had a difficult time shifting to that short pass game (<cough> McMicheal<cough) Green may be better at it having gotten into the groove of tossing to Gonzo. tomfin2000
For those who weren't aware, September is National QB Scapegoat Month.
twiley
For those who weren't aware, September is National QB Scapegoat Month. The issue with the Rams lies much deeper than Bulger. I think I cried a little last week while watching them.
Bill Swerski
That'll last as long as it takes for Green to get his first(and last) concussion of his career. With that O-line it may happen this week. I can't believe that Green is still playing. Agreed that he's going to get killed behind that line. Caveman_Nick
Dude best call up Marvin Martian and see if he can't borrow that big-ass helmet. Or better yet...Dark Helmet.
Whiskey Pimp
That'll last as long as it takes for Green to get his first(and last) concussion of his career. With that O-line it may happen in the 1st quarter. Fixed.
Itsnottatooma
For those who weren't aware, September is National QB Scapegoat Month. Classic I hope I'm wrong but I don't think Trent will make it thru the first game as bad as that o-line has been playing. He definitely will need to do quick throws, and will need to throw the ball away if nothing's there. That's something that Bulger couldn't seem to do consistently. twiley
For those hurting badly at QB, pickup Brock Berlin. He should be in by the 2nd quarter.
MTSuper7
If the goal is to get rid of the ball faster, Trent Green's happy feet will work. The last thing Green wants is to get hit. But isn't the problem that the O-line actually needs to give the QB a more realistic window of time to work with? This is like treating obesity by breaking your jaw so you can only eat your meals through a straw. That might be the weirdest analogy I've ever made in my life. Suture
... like benching Bulger for Green is going to fix the problems there. Last call to get aboard the Trent Green Express. Destination: Concussionville
Riffraff
The timing couldn't be more fitting though. The Rams have a bye week next week to allow Green to recover from this week's concussion.
FordFairlane
Congratulations, Trent Green! What prize has your concussion-prone dome won? Week 4 Buffalo Bills Week 6 Washington Redskins Week 7 Dallas Cowboys Week 8 New England Patriots (How long do you think he'll last?) MikesVikes
Congratulations, Trent Green! What prize has your concussion-prone dome won? Week 4 Buffalo Bills Week 6 Washington Redskins Week 7 Dallas Cowboys Week 8 New England Patriots (How long do you think he'll last?) Whew, the only relief on that schedule is week 8. But seriously folks, when you're the Rams there's no easy team on the schedule, imo.
piratesownninjas
The answer is Trent Green, the question must be "How to make a miserable team worse"
MikesVikes
Hello? Is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me. Is there anyone home? I predict a Pink Floyd concert will break out during the game.
MikesVikes
Coming around full circle? Trent Green's injury in training camp in 1999 brought up Kurt Warner to MVP that year. Only if the full circle is from Iowa.
STL Fan
It's true the O-line has bee awful, and Stephen Jackson is dancing around more than Warren Sapp instead of running upfield, and Torry Holt isn't quite what he used to be, BUT Bulger has been flat awful this season. When he has time (which he does occasionally) he can't hit anything. He's sailing them high, throwing behind guys and literally bouncing the ball at guys' feet. He looks like he's playing scared all the time. Remember the look on the face of that QB in The Water Boy? - "Dude, don't kill me!"
bluedog
does this change do anything for the value of Torry Holt or will he continue to suck?
WashingtonD
It's an interesting move.... The knock on Green the past few years (besides the concussions) has been his lack of ability to throw a deep ball...what Green always got credit for was making good reads, getting the ball to his receivers where they can do their work after the catch, and being accurate. I think this will enhance the value of McMichael and Jackson. I don't see it helping out Holt very much, but he'll get a little bump in the fact that there is just a different guy under center. If Green can remain healthy behind the porous St. Louis line, he's a better play than the Kerry Collins and Gus Ferotte's of the world.
