khrisx42
ESPN report Mlive is reporting that Kevin Smith has been told that he's lost his starting running back job to Johnson.
Flip_Side
I don't get why though? He was running good in the last game and all of a sudden they put in Rudi out of no where.
Cowboyz1
Because he is a VET and knows how to pass protect so their fragile QB doesn't get killed. I had a bad feeling about this. Det needs every possible angle they can get and if Rudi is back to form, and if the last game is any indication, he may be, Smith is relegated to spot duty as Rudi has game experience and has gone for 100 in a game. Something the Rookie hasn't proved yet. I suspect they have seen Rudi perform better in practice with pass protection. Assuming they are even running and catching out of the backfield, Rudi gets the auto edge bringing experience and past performance to the table. Sucks for me as I have K Smith as a backup runner. Riffraff
Ditto for pass protection when Kitna is no longer the starter. Need to protect the young guy.

michaelman
After taking a hit to their passing game... and looking at their upcoming schedule.. will Rudi even produce? Chicago twice.. Minnesota twice.. etc
CardinalEmpire.com
After taking a hit to their passing game... and looking at their upcoming schedule.. will Rudi even produce? Chicago twice.. Minnesota twice.. etc That's my problem with this situation. Detroit's schedule is terrible right up and through the fantasy playoffs. I don't see any way a Detroit RB is going to produce fantasy numbers between the defenses they play, the likelihood they'll be down by 3 TD's at the end of the first quarter, and the fact that Kitna needs pass protection from his RB. I picked up Rudi, but will be dropping him this week for a back-up TE (Winslow on bye). I won't be picking Rudi back up.
