rajncajn
I took of work early today, picked up a foot long sub & a six pack of Smithwick's. Get back to the hotel & get everything all set to watch football for the rest of the day. I check out the TV guide channel to see what games are on & (big surprise) the only game on is GB vs ATL. But any football today is good football. I switch to the station & some movie is playing. So I flip through all the channels & there are NO FREAKING GAMES PLAYING. WTH is wrong with these people? I thought they were football people. The GB game is a sellout, why would they black it out? And even if that was the case, why no other games? Man THIS SUCKS. Big John
FOX 11 should be playing that.

Randall
Maybe the hotel thinks your a foreigner. They must have it on another channel.
Big John
Strange cable system? need to see if they have another Fox station carring that as they may have priority in that area.

rajncajn
You may want to research these things called sports bars... I bought beer & a sub because I was going to try to work out of the room & I knew I'd be spending tomorrow night in the bar watching the Saints game. Big John
You may want to research these things called sports bars... Might not be any in that area, but some hotels limit the channels available and blocked out the one carrying the game. But go to ANY bar as they will have that game on. Call the front desk. Or 911. Sounds like a crime to me.

Chavez
Chances are you won't have to travel further than 1 block, either. Usually in Wisconsin the swing of a dead cat will net you a bar and a church.

rajncajn
Call the front desk. Or 911. Sounds like a crime to me. Front desk said the network canceled the game on Thursday, said everyone in the area is pissed. Chances are you won't have to travel further than 1 block, either. Right across the street. Gonna finish my beer & head out. Watching on the internet for now.
Dr. Rock
I'll get you the link in a second, but the reason is that the station's ownership is in a contractual dispute with the local cable carrier, resulting in the entire channel being yanked off the cable signal - the same thing is happening in Buffalo today, tons of people had to go grab bunny ears just to watch the Bills game. Dr. Rock
Here's the details about the Buffalo situation, it's basically the exact same thing (same companies I believe) as in GB. http://www.buffalonews.com/home/story/453762.html

Same thing is happening in Indy today too. Time Warner cable vs LIN TV who owns a bunch of stations. PFT had a story about it, but its gone now. Randall
Usually in Wisconsin the swing of a dead cat will net you a bar and a church. Ain't that the truth. And in many churches the Packers are mentioned in the sermons.

ROYALWITCHEESE
Something is wrong alright. It's that Packers downright offensive line. They can't protect Rodgers, and can't open holes for the running game. Grant is catching hell, but this line is 99% of it. Come on, it's the FALCONS!!!! Gopher
This reminds me of a story from about 10-12 years ago. Vikings game was blacked out in the Twin Cities, so me, my brother, and a couple of buddies decided to drive up to Hinckley Grand Casino to watch the game, which was just outside the blackout area. Well, needless to say, half of the metro area was thinking the same thing... casino was PACKED to the gills. We couldn't even find a place to STAND and watch the game, and it was still about 20 minutes before kickoff. So, we decided to just take a little drive into enemy territory... drove straight East to the first bar we could find in Wisconsin. Danberry was the town, I believe. The four of us walk into this hole-in-the-wall bar, and everyone in the bar (all 8 people) stare at us like we're aliens. Probably because we're all wearing purple. The owner takes one look at us, and asks us what we're drinking. We order a couple of pitchers (I think the best they had on tap was something like Old Milwaukee), and the owner proceeds to tell us that we can watch the Minnesota game, but he'll have to put us in another room because the two TV's in the main bar have the Packer game on. Basically, he puts us in a "conference room," with a table and a mid-sized TV. Every half-hour or so, he would come back and check on us and we would order another pitcher. The funny part was that, because he wouldn't put the Vikings game on in the main bar, we actually got a much better setup than if we had been able to sit at the bar. The service wasn't that bad either... After that, we often joked about going back to Danberry for another Vikings game. Classic.
