eagles2010
Am I missing something here? NFL.com play by play ruled that play under 2 minutes left a sack/FF for Harrison. I dont understand how it can be ruled that way when : 1. Garrard fumbled the ball as Harrison blitzed him, then Garrard never was tackled, then Garrard continued forward and almost recovered the rock himself 2. JAX O-line man actually came up with the ball and the drive continued. Now doesn't it require the defensive team to recover the rock to have Harrison scored a forced fumble? It's crazy that I may lose a game on a play that doesn't appear to have been scored correctly, so if I'm wrong I can dig it, but damn. I cant ever remember a forced fumble being scored to a defender when the team that fumbled retained possesion. True or false? I hate to be " that guy " but atleast I'm in the appropriate forum, lol
alexgaddis
Anytime a defensive player knocks the ball from the QB I think it is ruled a sack and forced fumble...it doesn't matter if the QB goes down or who recovers it...
alexgaddis
Now doesn't it require the defensive team to recover the rock to have Harrison scored a forced fumble? this is incorrect, he forced a fumble, doesn't matter who recovered it...that would only be for a team D to get credit for a turnover... eagles2010
Not sure I can agree with that. I have seen many of fumbles recovered by the team that fumbled without a player being scored like Harrison. That idea when a QB loses a ball and a player credited with a sackand FF, well I am gonns have to investigate further. Doesnt sem right, but if anyone else cares to chime in, go for it. I'm gonna take a look at the 49ers and Sullivan since he's had plenty of fumbles this season and see if theres an instance where this has happeed before. I hate to be " that guy " but atleast I'm in the appropriate forum, lol Sorry to say, but there is almost nothing correct in your post. The play was scored 100% correct. This play is always scored exactly as it was in this case. In fact, I challenge you to find a play scored as you describe. Think about it. As soon as the QB is hit and fumbles the ball, it's a sack. The QB's act of being a QB is over for that play. If he manages to recover, it's now a fumble recovery with yards being attributed to that. And a fumble is a fumble. It does not matter, nor has it ever mattered, who recovers it. It is what it is. A fumble. Period. Could be fumbled out of bounds and it's still a fumble. A fumble does not indicate a turnover, as you seem to be implying.
keggerz
Garrad knew that I told Alexgaddis to bench Harrison and Garrad also knew I benched him in one of my leagues(for Hass ewww) and that was Garrad's way of getting back at me...but fwiw I was still right that Rivers would outscore Harrison .....and yeah if a D player forces a fumble of a QB behind the LOS it is credited as a sack...the only instance where it may not and I emphasize MAY is if the play is a designed run and the QB is out of the pocket not looking to throw....I am not 100% sure but thats the only time i think it MAY NOT be recorded as a sack
eagles2010
Cool, thanks for clearing it up for me. It was just odd that Harrison didnt exactly hit Garrard until after Harrison knocked the ball out. The ball was out before Harrison had hit Garrard, that 's one perspective. It was clear to me that the ball was swiped out of his hand then contact, but what can ya do? Been playing team defense forever until this season and was my first taste of a play like that. Had to happen at the absolute worst time too!!! Fantasy? Drives me crazy sometimes. I even been looking at NFL.com hoping to have the replay assistant adjust the scoring, lol. Guess I'll give it up
