Sgt Ryan
Just amazing to see SC even a possability in the game. They do not deserve it, period. They will have played no one, except OSU, and we all see how pathetic OSU is this yr. And they lost handily, as it they never led, and trailed by 3 TDs before making it some what close, to an unranked team. If you beat no one, and lose to a complete crap team, how do you deserve to be in the game ahead of someone like OU who lost to a top 5 team, or FLA who just pummelled the defending mythical NC LSU. To me, that is a travesty, if SC gets in that game, unless every team in the nation has more loses than them.
Rockerbraves
Remember Sarge these are Vegas odds not the BCS rankings that come out later this week. Would surprise me if USC gets in over any one loss Big 12 or SEC team, but it wouldn't totally surprise me all to see either one or even possibly both those conference champions with 2 losses. theeohiostate
Vegas has it right on the money. USC is the best in the county, the best talent level and if you going to bet any money, you'd be a fool to pick any other, imo.

The key words here are "To Win" not necessarily that USC has the best shot of playing in the game. If that makes any sense.

Sarge, you have a legitimate beef about USC's schedule this year with the Pac-10 having a down year but the truth is that USC does have one of the best teams, if not the best team, in college football as they have the last 6 years so to say USC doesn't deserve a chance at the NC game because they laid an egg in Corvallis is nonsense. If the Trojans win out and 3 other teams have just 1 loss then you can't exclude the Trojans just because the Pac-10 is "down" this year. As fans we want the BEST teams in the NC game and with the above scenario and knowing the Trojans talent and coaching staff you couldn't tell me that they wouldn't deserve a NC shot. It's way too early to have this discussion right now because there will be a lot of changes at the Top in the next 3-4 weeks.

That being said is ANY team in America favored over USC on a neutral field? doubt it there is a long way to go, so it is gonna be a mess you- can count on 3-4 1 Loss teams having legit beefs - USC kicked a game away no question but in reality Oregon State is a pretty talented squad - that stepped up and took care of biz - it happens. USC is still in the mix especially after watching UT and OKl play that flag football game. USC's D is light years ahead of anything in the county IMO - that alone gives them a nice shot against any of the top teams - do teams like OU, Bama and Texas have tougher roads and sched ahead of them- probly. BUT anyone with half a brain knows you can't count out USC at this point -

BUT anyone with half a brain knows you can't count out USC at this point - Tougher road, stronger schedule, lost to a top 5 team instead of an unranked opponenet. Actually led most of the game against the now #1 team in the country, and again in the 4th. Where SC plays a weak ass schedule, beats no one all year, loses to an unranked team, and never led in that game, it was never really as close as the final score. Tell me why they deserve to be ranked ahead of OU, if both win out. Its a joke. If this was Oregon instead of SC, they would have fallen to 16. But for some reason people always want to give SC something, even though they didnt earn it. Split title with LSU, when LSU won it on the field. Every year when SC loses to unranked teams, they vault right back to the top.

This is the 1st year in a long, long time that you could actually make the claim that OU plays a tougher schedule than SC does. And ONLY because the Big 12 is strong, finally! It's not USC's fault that the Pac-10 isn't as strong as in years past and this is the 1st year that the Big 12 has been as deep and talented as it is. They did have 4 very good teams last year too. I'll put USC's out of conference schedules up against Oklahoma's any day of the week. Here's just the last 5 years ......... 2008 USC- Virginia, Ohio State, Notre Dame / Oklahoma- Washington, Chatanooga?, Cincinnati, TCU 2007 USC - Idaho, Nebraska, Notre Dame / Oklahoma- North Texas, Miami, Utah St., Tulsa 2006 USC - Arkansas, Nebraska, Notre Dame / Oklahoma - UAB, Washington, Oregon, Middle Tennessee 2005 USC - Hawaii, Arkansas, Notre Dame, Fresno St. / Oklahoma - TCU, Tulsa, UCLA 2004 Virginia Tech, Colorado St., BYU, Notre Dame / Oklahoma - Bowling Green, Houston, Oregon You're really making me wish for a USC/Oklahoma Title game this year Edited October 18, 2008 by theprofessor
Sgt Ryan
You're really making me wish for a USC/Oklahoma Title game this year Id love nothing more than that. When OU puts half a hundred on SC's defense, and whip their ass by 3 TDs, that may finally end the hype of this program for the next few years anyway. Maybe they will actually have to earn it on the field, instead of just get it from the damn media voters. SC is a fraud this year. Their defense was exposed by Oregon St, and Im sorry but that QB Sanchez isnt even close to Leinart or Palmer or even last years watered down version of a hype machine. If SC played in the Big 12 this year, they would have 4 loses minimum. Id put money on Okie St and Tech to whoop their ass too, not counting the obvious ass whippings from Missouri , OU and Texas. edit to add: I forgot Kansas as well. theeohiostate
SC is a fraud this year. Their defense was exposed by Oregon St, isn't this the pot calling the kettle black ? Didn't Texas expose the OU defense just the same ? Isn't Kansas exposing the same defense again this week? Kansas is set to score a season high against OU this week and the best team they faced before this was South Florida . I would say with 100% certainty that USC has a better offense then either team and would easily put up 40+ points. The question then becomes if OU would score over 40. I highly doubt it. Somehow the Big 12 has become a better version of the WAC - there is no defense being played in that conference- non, zero. Saying OU would hang 50 on USC shows how out of touch you are USC would blow the doors off OKState, Tech, KU, Mizzou and any other JV program out of yer little conference - the jury is still out on Texas and OKL bc frankly as good as the Big 12 has been to this point, I am now thinking it is over-rated
theprofessor
I watched the Oklahoma - Kansas game yesterday and Oklahoma, with their defense, is NOT National Championship game worthy. There was almost 1,200 yards of total offense in that game - The conference is loaded with offense but they play no defense. ZERO!
