myhousekey
and the saga continues... http://blog.nola.com/saintsbeat/2008/10/ne...hoose_kick.html The Saints have signed rookie kicker Garrett Hartley and punter Glenn Pakulak, according to their agent, Mark Mersel. Hartley, 22, was undrafted out of Oklahoma. He signed with the Denver Broncos but was released before the start of training camp. Pakulak, 28, has bounced around the league for several years, though he's never landed a regular-season gig. He was most recently with the Raiders this preseason, averaging 45 yards per punt. Both players were chosen after impressive tryouts at the Saints' facility on Wednesday. The team brought in three kickers and four punters on Wednesday and had earlier auditioned at least two other veteran kickers.

myhousekey
I just wish we would have kept Carney.I am a hugh fan of Tynes getting healthy and getting his job back! I believe the Giants have until Wed afternoon to decide if they are going to activate David Tyree or IR him for the season;. he's supposedly healthy and if they want him on the roster that could force them to cut tynes or carney... http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/04/sports/f...ml?ref=football The other decision involves the place-kickers, John Carney and Lawrence Tynes. Carney took over after Tynes sustained a knee injury in training camp. Tynes has been healthy for almost a month, but Carney has missed no extra points and only one field goal, which was blocked. But Carney’s kickoffs have not been reaching the end zone, often falling around the 10-yard line without much hang time for the coverage team to get downfield. Should Carney be cut, that would open a roster spot for Tyree. Or the Giants could dress both kickers Sunday and scratch someone else. It is unusual for teams to carry two place-kickers. Coach Tom Coughlin was asked Monday whether he might dress two kickers, one for kickoffs, the other for scoring plays. “At this point, no,” he said.
