The Cocktail Party.....

Is about to begin!! Wow! This town is abuzz early getting ready for what should be one of the best Florida-Georgia games in recent memory. Both teams are playing extremely well and seem to have gotten over the hiccups. I can't remember in my 26 years of living here looking forward to this game as much as I am this year. Now if I can only get off work an hour early and catch the whole thing. I was dreaming of both being undefeated at this point, but after one loss each, it couldn't have worked out any better to get to this point. Should be a great game and the parties wil be cranking up as the RV park opened today. I have had the pleasure of partying down there pre-game and it is packed with RVs with the drinks flowing. Truly the World's Largest Cocktail Party!

My prediction:

UF 31

UG 28

ETA: Winner gets to play Alabama and possibly spoil their plans in the SEC Championship

Winner remains in the national title race, loser is likely out.

What's interesting about the Georgia vs. Florida game is that the loser while being eliminated from the BCS NC discussion will in all likelyhood be the favorite to represent the SEC in a BCS Bowl. Crazy?

Well ever since the addition of the 5th BCS bowl game the SEC has been fortunate enough to get two teams in and if history is any indication the loser of the SEC Championship Game isn't going to be one of those two.

So lighten up Gator and Bulldog fans & have another cocktail after the game win or lose. Your team will still have a very good chance to end the season on a very positive note (possibly better than the winner of this game).

2006- 2007 Sugar Bowl: LSU (10–2, at-large) 41, Notre Dame (10-2, at-large) 14

2007-2008 Sugar Bowl: Georgia (10–2, at-large) 41, Hawaiʻi (12-0, WAC Champion, BCS #10, automatic) 10

I'm not a fan of either team, and not even a fan of any SEC team, but i would LOVE to get down to this game one of these days

I'm jealous. I will be having the worlds smallest cocktail party in front of my TV in honor of this great event.

"Hey pass me a beer."

"Hello?"

born and rsised in the NW, and Pac 10 fan - freakiing love the FLA/UGA game- simply awesome and it is what makes the SEC great.

No other conference has these types of quality matchups and kick ass atmosphere...........

except maybe Indiana vs Purdue for the old oaken bucket

It is an atmosphere like no other. I stand by the opinion that the best fans show up to this game. While a huge rivalry, there isn't that negative vibe I get when Florida-FSU plays. I was a poor college student when I went to a couple of these games and I was well fed by Florida and Georgia fans alike, I never felt unsafe or threatened, and the verbal attacks were never over the line. And there are RVs with alumni about as far as the eye can see.

I remember after we lost to Georgia 44-0, me and a friend were walking out of the stadium and a drunk GA co-ed looked at us and said, "Look at those Dirty Swamp Lizards!" As depressed as I was, I chuckled at that and have used it as the name of various fantasy football stadiums.

Inside the stadium, you have a section of Florida fans followed by a section of Georgia fans. It alternates like this throughout the stadium.

I have a cousin who did post-grad at UGA, and he told me the same thing. He went to both UGA-UF in 97' and then UF-FSU in 97' and said the same exact thing you said.

The problem with UF winning is that the local bars and restaurants here in Jax suffer as Georgia fans go home. After this pasting, and I'm sure y'all saw the empty seats, probably half the Georgia fans were already on their way home before the game was officially over. 49-10. I wouldn't have thought that could be possible, but I'll take it. Now hopefully UF stays focused on the task at hand and, for now, that's winning the SEC east and getting to play in Atlanta against a possibly undefeated Bama team. That game I would love to see. By the way, Vandy always gives UF fits at home. And they've had a bye week to game plan. I think SuperT will make sure his team stays focused. South Carolina is another team that gives UF fits, so it's not a given trip to Atlanta yet.

Sorry to put a damper on your dream SEC Championship game but Bama goes down next week @ Tiger Stadium. This is the game they had circled all year. Miles will pull out all the stops in this one.

LMAO, are you kidding. You ought to make it to Dallas and watch a Texas/OU game. The atmosphere and match up are top notch every freakin year. But whatever you say!

Again, you guys have no idea what you are talking about. Make it to Dallas just once, and your opinion will change immediately. Dallas is overflowed with Okies and students from Austin. The stadium is split down the middle, half orange, half crimson. The streets in downtown dallas the night before are simply amazing. There are over 100K people down there every year. Its wild. Then the game with 2 ranked teams every year.

I hope you are right. FLA doesnt need to knock off an undefeated Bama. For their quality wins to come against 2 loss teams, LSU, GA and Bama if they get to that game, will be necessary for a 1 loss team from teh Big 12 to get in the NC game. That is unless Tech runs the table.
