After the year is over, how does the UT vs TT win vault Leach into the national spotlight. I'm happy keeping Leach in Lubbock, where he can't get the real big name recruits. I thought last year that he was gone to the Mich. or Miami jobs but noone came knocking, any thoughts if he might move at years end?

Leach @ a storied school with recruiting power could be scary. He has taken TT to a bowl every year since he started and won all them but 2, with his best win coming over a top 5 ranked Cal team in the Holiday bowl in 2004.

Leach's salary through 2010

In August 2006, Leach signed a five-year contract with Texas Tech that will pay him at least $10 million if he stays in place through 2010. Leach's guaranteed compensation will be $1.6 million in 2006, $1.65 million in 2007, $1.75 million in 2008, $1.85 million in 2009 and $2.15 million in 2010.

As a Tech fan that has been critical of Leach not being able to get over that final hump, I may have to reconsider my stance if they keep up the winning. I love his offensive mind and his ability to take a gamble when needed, but I think the team needs more emphasis on the defensive side. They are getting better, but still have a ways to go. I personally think he stays at TT at least for a couple more years.

His name has been mentioned as a short-list name for the Washington job (he's a California native). The little blurbs I've read about him potentially taking a Pac-10 job talk about his "personality" being an issue. Since we have Red Raiders in the hizza, what's that supposed to mean?
