satelliteoflovegm
Has anybody tracked the production of game time decisions that ended up playing? I avoided Steven Jackson this week thinking even if he does play he could get nicked or tweak something very early. At the very least be ineffective. This time I was right but I wonder if there is a pattern. My other choices weren't obvious either. Jamal Lewis and Lendale White. I just told myself go the safe route. I would speculate the vast majority of times the GTD does play they have a sub-standard or even poor game. Perhaps rarely finishing. I don't know. If this info isn't being tracked at The Huddle perhaps it should be. The NFL is all about trends and percentages.
DMD
I would strongly contend that there is no similarity or commonality among them worth relying on. They are all indivual cases and each coach considers them differently. Trust me, we would all love something better for GTD but short of educated guesses and getting the best info that is available, there isn't much you can do. satelliteoflovegm
Maybe, I don't know. But often the GTD hasn't practiced all week or was limited practice. I think coaches agree this is critical to a player's effectiveness on gameday. I can't recall a time when a GTD went off. Perhaps others recall a special case they were involved in. Skippy
Keep in mind that not every coach treats the GTD the same way. Some coaches say that if the player is not 100% then he does not play. To me that means that if said player does play then he is 100% and should not matter that he was a GTD. Westbrook is a perfect example of this. TC_Ute
I can't recall a time when a GTD went off. Perhaps others recall a special case they were involved in. I've seen Westbrook have a HUGH day as a GTD - actually a couple of times. Once when I owned him, and another time when I was playing against him (maybe two years ago?) SLAYER
I also remember the Bus doing this a couple of times and Eddie George back in the day.
WashingtonD
This question struck my curiosity so I did a bit of research using Huddle's Priority News Archives... In 2008 so far the following teams had these players as GTD for these weeks Team – Week Player Performance Ravens – Week 1 McGahee DNP Bears – Week 4 Lloyd 2 catches for 33 Bears – Week 3 Hester DNP Browns – Week 1 Lewis 13 for 62 and 1 for 14 Broncos – Week 9 Scheffler DNP Packers – Week 5 Rodgers 25/37 3 TDs 313 yards Texans – Week 9 A Green DNP Jags – Week 4 Porter 1 catch for 6 Vikings – Week 3 Peterson 17 for 77 Saints – Week 4 Patten 1 catch for 21 Oakland – Week 4 McFadden 7 for 20 and 2 for 17 Oakland – Week 3 J Walker DNP Philly – Week 6 Westbrook DNP Philly – Week 5 Westbrook 12 for 33, 1 TD and 6 for 51 receptions SD – Week 8 Chambers 5 for 47 SF – Week 4 B Johnson DNP Rams – Week 9 S Jackson 7 for 17 Bucs – Week 8 Galloway 3 for 38 Skins – Week 9 Santana Moss ? (Not formatted great, sorry built it into a table and pasted it here) A mixed bag for sure (of both talent of players and results)...The only two here that you could say "went off" would be Aaron Rodgers on Week 5 and arguably Westbrook on week 5, though thats clearly a sub par performance. If I'd pull one trend from this limited data set its that if the player is not a complete stud, then if he's a GTD there is little reason to start him. Be interesting to see what Moss does tonight. satelliteoflovegm
With that limited data that's kind of what I thought it might look like. Nice work. It is interesting that the QB had the for sure monster game. You would think having the most to learn in a game plan. Granted this is a small sample.
