Denver Vs Cleveland

Let me see: CLE is giving up 148 ypg rushing while gaining 94 ypg rushing - a 54 ypg deficit. They surrender 4.7 ypc while only gaining 3.7 ypc - a massive 1.0 ypc differential. CLE surrenders 209 ypg passing while gaining 182 ypg passing, and allows opponents a 7.35 ypa while only gaining 5.98 ypa, again a whopping 1.37 ypa differential. CLE opponents score equally well on the ground and in the air against CLE, averaging more than 1 TD per game each way. Then we add that Brady Quinn is starting his first game as a NFL QB - not an occassion where most QBs put up massive numbers. And he's throwing to a #1 WR who leads the NFL in drops this season.

This isn't to say DEN is much better. I've painfully documented their shortcomings numerous times on this board. But wondering whether DEN can somehow manage to give CLE a game? :D

BTW - for anyone paying attention for whatever reason, and to refrain from starting another Torain thread:

DEN newspapers are listing Torain as the starter tonight.

I heard an interview of Torain this morning, and while he was his usual cheerful & entertaining self, he was noticably quiet. He normally engages interviewers and willingly contributes a lot of information, whereas in this interview he was exceptionally closed mouthed. He would not answer the question of whether he was starting or not. He did respond to a question about his arm that he was, quote, "most definitely 100%". When asked whether he could take 15 to 20 carries, he responded enthusiastically that he could handle that workload easily. When asked how many carries he thought he would get, he again reverted to being coy and refused to put forth any kind of number.

It sounded to me like a guy with his serious game face on. We'll see...

Fortunately, unlike last week, I've got enough good options at RB that I don't need to start him but I'd love to see him go off.

ask the NYG about differentials...

The point remains that I don't think Cleveland has earned the right for us to speculate if any NFL team has what it takes to keep up with them. The answer to that question should remain a very confident "yes". Now this doesn't mean that Den won't go out there and crap their pants, of course.

ask the NYG about differentials...

Why? They're 7-1 and in first place. They have the 8th best O in the league and the 3rd best D. They average a whopping +77 rushing ypg differential and a +34 passing ypg differential. They hold a hugh 6.2 ypa vs 5.2 ypa advantage over their opponents in passing and a ginormous 5.2 ypc vs 3.8 ypc advantage over their opponents in rushing. For good measure, they are also +6 in TO ratio.

If any team epitomizes the advantages of owning their opponents in differentials, it's the Giants.

I wouldn't touch a Denver game with someone else's bankroll. They make Forrest Gump's box of chocolates look predictable.

That being said, I own Torain in 2 leagues, and like most I'm keeping him on the bench, hoping he goes off today and trading him tomorrow for as much value as I can squeeze out of it.

What have you heard about Scheffler? Anything? I'd really love to start him in my 32 homarrrr league against Denver.

All we've heard is that he practiced all week, but was limited all week. Usually limited is not good when it comes to Shanahan - he usually requires guys who are going to get a lot of reps to practice at least once fully at least 2 days prior to the game.

I'd love to help you out, but that's about the best I can do.
