charlmaz
Can anyone assist....I'm the commissioner in a league which has an ongoing debate due to a very close game (decided by .30 points)> One team had Jason Campbell. On the Redskins site and the NFL.com stats both show one fumble and one fumble lost in the stats. The NFL.com play by play says Raybach the Washington Center Fumbled. The play took place at 8:53 of the second quarter and it was a shotgun that hit Campbell in the hands and he fumbled. Is there any way or any place to go to substantiate this stat? I emailed NFL.com but never received a response. I've seen highlight video which shows the play. Where can the "official " stats be found
Big John
A fumbled snap is charged to the QB. Then need to check league rules on how long after the fact stat changes can take. Many leagues have rules saying no stat changes are allowed after kickoff of the following week's games.

ts
IMO, the validation of the stat can be determined by whatever site is specified in your league rules as representing the "official scoring" for your fantasy league ... if you don't have a provision in your league charter that specifies the "official" site for league scoring, you need to add one. In the current lack of such a provision however, I think you need to just choose a site (list some likely sources & let the owners vote?) and live with whatever that source has published regarding the game in question. You might check the game log on CBSSportsline for that game as well to see how they recorded the play. http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/gamecenter/p...0081012_STL@WAS Edited November 9, 2008 by ts
BearcatTom
You score it however the source you use for your scoring scores it. No interpretation. However they score it, that is how it goes.
charlmaz
You score it however the source you use for your scoring scores it. No interpretation. However they score it, that is how it goes. It would be nice if that was the case, but we use Fanball and their response is as follows: Thank you for contacting Fanball Customer Service. Once standings are posted on Tuesday morning, we do not go back and update the site for any stat changes that the NFL makes after that time. If you want the extra point for your player, you will need to contact your commissioner and have him do a manual scoring override. If you have any further questions, please ask. If this response does not answer your question or comment to your satisfaction and you wish to follow up, please reply directly to this email. At Fanball we are always looking for ways to improve the quality of service provided to our customers, if you have any suggestions for improvement we would like to hear from you. Please send your comments to supportfeedback@fanball.com. Thank you for using Fanball.com Customer Support, we look forward to assisting you with any future needs. The play by play says one thing and the boxscore another on different websites. I'm really not sure about which one is actually correct and do not want any questions from the impacted team if I take away the 2 points and they lose the game. If your league rules do not specify an alternative souce (as opposed to the league management site, in this case, Fanball) for official scoring, then the game stats as published by Fanball are "official" for your league. Done deal.

Done deal. My only problem with your solution is if the fumble really happened and it did....regardless of what Fanball does and does not do, it should be scored correctly. Is there one source for actual stats that are 100% correct?
ts
Is there one source for actual stats that are 100% correct? Yes. For the purposes of your league, given the league rules as you have explained them, Fanball. I honestly wish I had better / different advice to offer, since I'm sure you are trying to be fair & do the "right thing" for the league, but given the info available I only see the Fanball interpretation of the stats as the appropriate solution to your issue. Suture
Good luck getting a response from NFL.com. In the few times I used them, they never responded to any of our requests for help.
