efi4eye
So Mewelde Moore seems to play even better than Fast Willie when he's in lately, and Dominic Rhodes is playing better than Addai this year. Anyone else find this strange? I have FWP and Moore both on my Yahoo league team and I actually get a better feeling starting Moore when FWP is out. Michael Turner finally got out of LT's shadow and has definitely made an impact this year after playing backup for so long. How about these guys? I think they're all great starts when the feature back is hurt. Makes you think they could star as starters for a lot of teams. Can anyone else see them as stars given the right opportunity? Moore Rhodes Chester Taylor Darren Sproles ? Leon Washington Correll Buckhalter Any more to add? Edited November 10, 2008 by efi4eye

DemonKnight
Ladell Betts is a pretty good running back when given the chance.
DemonKnight
Ward and Bradshaw. I dont think I'd call Ward a back-up this year.
Robash
I dont think I'd call Ward a back-up this year. agree...but i wouldnt of excluded them from that list either
DemonKnight
agree...but i wouldnt of excluded them from that list either When someone's gets 50% of the first half carries, they aint a back up. Bradshaw carries only in the second half and looks good doing it. I, personally, haven't seen enough of his carries to make an informed decision though. SheikYerbuti
Chester Taylor Funny how fast they forget that he was brought to Minn to be the feature back. How'd that work out for him?
scottyjets
Jerious Norwood, hands down, top backup in the NFL
scottyjets
Leon can't play as an every-down back, he's proven he's not capable. He is playing in a perfect role right now behind Thomas Jones. If Jones went down the Jets would bring in someone else to run on first and second down.

Leon Washington Correll Buckhalter No, I don't think any of them could be stars given the right opportunity, UNLESS the "right opportunity" actually means the "right system". Moore didn't do much before getting to Pitt Rhodes is decent, but no star. Also, like in todays game, there is a HUGH difference in getting decent yardage on passing downs vs. running downs. Taylor might be the closest, but again, he would have to be in the right system. Sproles....nope, but I like the dude Washington....not really. Kind of like a Betts to me. Buckhalter....not unless he is playing in Philly's system. Maybe Stewart if he was the only back in CAR, and he wasn't broken as often Of course I'm not counting the MJD/Tayler or the Brown/Williams combo's. He ran for what, 1500 yards 2 years ago? Nowood would also have to be inthis conversation.

Chaim.Witz
Taylor has already proved he can do it. He ran for what, 1500 yards 2 years ago? Understood. That is why I didn't count the JAX and MIA combo's. The backups are really starters also, who just happen to be sharing this season.
detlef
Funny how fast they forget that he was brought to Minn to be the feature back. How'd that work out for him? I think that has more to do with the fact that Minn (rightly) realized that AD was just too damned talented to let slide past their pick. I applaud franchises that have enough sense to realize that, if there's someone available at your pick that you think is truly special, you take them rather than someone whom you're not as fired up about but happens to play a position you need filled. Moore didn't do much before getting to Pitt He actually put up nice numbers from time to time in Minn. I think he's one of those guys who just doesn't impress anyone in workouts so teams always feel they need to bring in someone "better". However, dude is a gamer. In terms of the "right" system, the one Minn ran and the one that Pitt runs don't seem all that similar. I watched yesterday and dude ran hard and continued to gain positive yards despite being hit or even wrapped up right at the line of scrimmage. Indy came in with one thing in mind, stop the run. They pretty much did but I recall several plays where he dragged a few players or pushed the pile far enough to pick up a first. A few more games like that and dude is going to earn himself a starting job somewhere.
CardinalEmpire.com
Bush in Oakland? He's their #2 receiver and #3 runner despite hardly getting to see the field.

Have you seen the murderers row that is the Raiders leading receivers? I'm 5 catches and 30 yards away from being top 10 on that list. The entire team has a combined 1400 yds. Muggsy
probably too early to consider Felix Jones, but worth a mention MJD or Fred Taylor? whichever you consider the backup Ricky Williams? No problems here with Chester or Ladell Betts. And I'm not saying he's the best, but let's not leave out BenJarvis Green-Ellis considering he was 5th string at best when the season started
