Rovers
In week 10 against StL, he put up 6 for 107 and a TD, with a 54 yard catch. Last night he put up 8 for 87 and dropped a sure TD pass. That TD pass was an unforced drop, and he is known for having very good hands. He seemed to put that behind him and still had a big game with some very clutch grabs. LB's can't cover him, he's simply too fast. Favre has said how he wished he had Keller to throw to sooner... Favre thinks he could be a great one. It isn't very often that rookie TE's catch on like this in their first year in the NFL. Most take time to develop. Is this kid ready to become part of that Gates, Witten, Gonzo group? darin3
Short answer is yeah. I think he and Daniels will be just as good as the Gonzo/Gates/Witten ilk. Heck, Daniels is only a handful of fantasy points behind those three right now.
FishFreak
The kid looks like a stud to me but Collinsworth said he's not a good run blocker which might keep him off the field some. Any truth to that?

kingfish247
Certainly looks the part. I think his inadequacies in blocking will be helped with a full offseason program in the pros... weight room and more coaching will help. It's unfortunate but I'd be more weary of Keller's long term prospects given the advanced age of his current QB.

Just playing Devil's Advocate here, but wouldn't an inexperienced QB (ie, whoever may follow Favre) rely heavily on a studly TE that has proven to be a consistent performer with a veteran QB at the helm? I'll bring up Owen Daniels again; he's looked fantastic with both Schaub and Rosenfels at the helm. Neither is that seasoned of a QB. But I definitely agree that the off-season weights and skills improvement will certainly make him look the part down the road.
Egret
He's a big WR who plays in the TE spot. He will be fantasy football gold.
darin3
He's a big WR who plays in the TE spot. He will be fantasy football gold. Pretty much. He's 6'4", 240. In comparison, Jason Witten is 6'5", 265. Keller will likely add some LBs over the offseason, but I doubt it's more than 10 or so.
myhousekey
With all the problems I've had a the TE position this year (insert Shockey/Scheffler) he's a guy I've been watching for awhile. He scored in back to back weeks in wk3 and 4 and I thought would be poised to come out of the bye as a good TE to have. He followed that up with basically nothing in weeks 6-9 so I kind of gave up on the guy. Sure enough he has rebounded nicely these last two weeks. I just wish I could get a little more consistency out of that position. Similarly I climbed on board the Kevin Boss bandwagon after his nice week 3 performance. Started him for 3 weeks where he did nothing (wk 5-7). Of course as soon as I drop him he scores in the next 3 games. Figures.
Rileyrott
I too have/had Shockey/Sheffler, and tried to get Keller, but he was grabbed right before me in Wed night's WW, so I dropped sorry-a$$ Shockey and picked-up his counterpart, Billy Miller. I'm so done with Shockey, and I hope the Saints are too.

Yeah I've been on then TE roller coaster with several TE's this year too. I kept missing out on guys I wanted like Daniels and Cooley during the draft. I started with LJ Smith, Carlson and Keller and when I dropped Keller and Carlson they did well. Right now I have Boss and Celek and just picked up Shockey. I'm sticking with them hoping for a playoff semi stud to emerge. I can see Smith getting hurt again and Celek putting up good numbers. Shockey is just a hail mary. myhousekey
, so I dropped sorry-a$$ Shockey and picked-up his counterpart, Billy Miller. Probably a smart move. Billy Miller has played head and shoulders above Shockey this year. And he can actually stay on the field for more than a week without getting injured. Dirty Sanchez
Keller probably isn't as good as he's looked so far. History shows that Favre has his favorite targets. Keller is benefitting from that right now. What ever happened to Antonio Freeman/Javon Walker/any other receiver Favre had with the Packers after they left Green Bay? They were never heard from again....that's what!

Keller was rated pretty high going into the draft and is a former Mackey Award Winner too http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile...rospect_ID=1249 Dustin Keller continues to amaze. The Purdue University tight end might be the most athletic prospect in the whole draft. Keller could have sat on his stellar combine numbers, but instead came out at Purdue's pro day and upped his vertical leap to 41 inches. He also ran the short shuttle 3.94 seconds. Keller has solidified himself as one of the top two tight ends in this class. Keller could be taken anywhere from the end of the first round to the middle of round two. They were never heard from again....that's what! Sorry but I don't agree with much of what you say here. Favre does have his favorite targets but one of his favorites is whichever guy is open. If you make plays he trusts you. If you drop passes he will come back to you but you have to make the play or he'll stop throwing the ball your way. He has players he likes like Driver and Jennings recently in Green Bay, but he often throws passes to 8 or 9 players in games. Keller may bring back memories of Chmura. He hasn't had a good pass catching TE in years. I think he'll be even better in time. Going into the draft Keller was the top pass catching TE by most people. Javon had a very good year his first in Denver, then he got hurt again. Before he got hurt the 2nd year he had about 18 catches in those first two games. Freeman declined greatly after he got a big contract. He was done before hye even left Green Bay. In my opinion.

Rovers
Favre referred to Keller as a 'tweener. NFL.com lists him as 6-2, 248. That's a bit on the small side when compared to Gates (6-4, 260) Witten (6-5, 262), O Daniels (6-3, 247) and Cooley (6-3, 258). He wasn't asked to block much in college, but he reportedly is a hard worker, unselfish team player type, and very coachable. His blocking should improve with time and experience. Unlike V Davis and Winslow, he is not a head case. He runs a 4.53 forty and the 41 inch vertical which was mentioned is rare for any TE. Only Adalius Thomas could have covered him last night, as Mayo plays on the inside. I still believe the Jets drafted Keller specifically to create mismatches against the Patriots D. Rememeber, when the Jets drafted him, Pennington was still the QB... and most defenses played the Jets WR's tight because Chad was no deep threat. Keller was going to go over the middle while C&C ran those sideline outs. I don't think his future rests soley on Favre. Even a weak armed Pennington needed a Keller in that offense, and the Jets knew it. The middle is even more open because the Patriots played off the WR's given Favre's abilty to stretch the field, but when one on one with an LB... Keller will be dangerous no matter who is under center.

Rovers
I remember when Chris Baker had a few good games. And Johnny Mitchell was supposed to be the next John Mackey. Neither of those players ever had the speed and hands Keller does. Neither ever had a game like Keller did last week or last night. Just because the Jets have a history of TE busts, that is hardly reason enough to say Keller goes the same way. The Jets have a history of losing to NE in every big game too... but that changed last night also. Baker never ran a 4.5 forty. Keller has. What in the world do Baker and Mitchell have to do with Keller?
Randall
And Jennings and Driver haven't done too badly without Favre either. No they haven't, but Favre was better when he had Chmura or Keith Jackson streaking down the middle. Against a Tampa 2 a TE pressing the MLB 20 yards downfield is very dangerous. Favre has better weapons in NY than he has had here. 2 RB's to feed screens to, 2 excellent WR's and Keller plus Smith, Stuckey and even Clowney when he comes back. I think this team is better than they know they are at this point.

Randall
Thanks Denny Green. I just think they're a developing team. The offensive line is coming together and they have a lot of talent on offense.
cre8tiff
I sure hope he goes off, as I have him in two leagues now. As far as hands go, I think anyone that can consistently catch balls the velocity Farve throws at short distance is absolutely a cut above. Once down the field a bit, the speed comes off and makes the ball easier to catch (Though I wouldn't doubt it would still be a hand burner to most of us). But catching that sort of bullet within 10 yards? OUCH. Add to that the passes aren't exactly pinpoint accurate, and you have a elite TE in the making, IMHO.
