For various reasons but still - unbelievable how many WRs have disappointed at least somewhat or one helluva lot - for ex

Moss

Owens

Colston

Wayne

Roy Wms

Edwards

Burress

etc etc

P-U

Definitely a year to have a strong running game. And Fitz.

I actually think you can even add Andre Johnson to the list given how good of a player he is and how inconsistent he's been this year. He's been hamstrung by his QB and opposing defenses keying on him.

I have been disappointed with Marvin Harrison, too. I think he has a chance to come on the rest of the season though with him seemingly more in tune with Manning.

1. Andre Johnson HOU 955

2. Larry Fitzgerald ARI 939

3. Roddy White ATL 903

4. Greg Jennings GB 865

5. Calvin Johnson DET 839

 what were you expectiing?

First of all, WRs are by their nature inconsistent. Andre Johnson and Reggie Wayne are ranked 4th and 7th in my ppr league. If you're looking for 100 yards and/or a TD every week, your going to be disappointed by all but the top 1 or 2 WRs every year. Most top 10 WRs have 3-4 bad games, 3-4 huge games and the rest okay games through the course of a season.

I don't know how Reggie Wayne gets on the list. In my PPR league he is the # 8 receiver. a top 10 finish is the reason I draft a "stud", and he's in a group separated by 10 points from the #5 to the #9 receiver.

In a league without PPR he is #7.

I own him in my local and he's the 8th overall WR...

he must be following the LT2 rule where he's a letdown if he's not in the top 5...

Sure, he's put up a lot of yards, but he's also had 4 (out of 10) games this year where he'd done little. He's supposed to be a start every week stud. Last year when he was healthy, he put up big numbers every game.

I was expecting about 90 yds per game and a TD about every other game. I'm also looking ahead to his playoff schedule facing Tennesse and Oakland (w/Aso gaurding him). That spells future disappointment for me.

+1

I own Wayne in almost every league. He's had one or two quieter games this season than usual, but overall he's a consistent Top 10 WR that helps carry my team.

A name I would like to add though is Patrick Crayton. He was a fantastic low end WR2/high end WR3 option until Roy Williams came around.

I guess I don’t get the S. Smith complaints. I mean, “huge” disappointment? I have him in my main local (.5 ppr + bonus over 100 yards) and his scores since his suspension have been: 9, 18, 12, 16, 23, 27, bye, 0 (Oakland game), 7. Granted, the 7 and 0 are bad scores, but other than that…I can’t really complain for a guy I picked up at 4.2. I’d say he’s saved my season after taking Moss at 2.2. Smith would be 6th overall in my league if he kept his average and played the first two games.

This is, IMO, the tail end of the top 6 runs of Harrison, Moss, TO, Holt, and CJ. Until recently 2 or 3 of these WRs would be in the top 6 in back-to-back years. The new faces seem likely to be Wayne, Fitz, and/or Boldin. I can see Moss or CJ (if he lands with another team or bounces back) hanging on but the old-guard is definitely changing.

Last year's top 12 (based on 1pt = 10 rec yds, 6pt = TD, no PPR)...

Moss

Edwards

TO

Wayne

CJ

Fitz

Housh

Colston

Burress

Marshall

Welker

Holt

Jennings

Current top 12...

Boldin

Fitz

White

Calvin J.

Jennings

AJ

Wayne

S.Moss

Marshall

Ward

Bowe

Housh

Only 5 of 2007's top 12 are currently top 12.

Only 1 of 2007's top 6 is currently top 6.

Only 1 of 2007's top 7-12 is currently top 6.

1 of the current top 6 finished 2007 worse than 25.

The other 3 current top 6 were all in 2007's 13 to 25 range.

Wayne has a good shot at cracking the top 6. That will probably be 2 of last year's top 6 repeating from last year. This is about average. Difference is the names are changing and for various reasons. Harrison is showing his age. Holt is showing his age and playing on an abysmal team. CJ is/was injured and has had a backup QB. TO is on a downturn that may be due to age but more likely it has been QB issues.

I don't recall DMD/The Huddle doing a repeatability series update this year but it might be something looked at this offseason or next.
