tazinib1
Twenty-nine years after Joe Greene became a star in a Coca-Cola commercial, Troy Polamalu will be cast in the remake. Polamalu, a four-time Pro Bowl strong safety, will revise the role that Greene played in the 1980 Super Bowl ad. It too will be shown during the Super Bowl. In the original commercial, Greene limps through a tunnel beneath the stands in obvious discomfort. A young boy offers him his Coke, and Greene finally accepts. He drinks it down and, as the kid slowly walks away, Greene breaks into a smile and says, "Hey, kid; catch!" and throws him his No. 75 game jersey. "Thanks Mean Joe"....one of the most popular commercial lines of all time. That ad not only won a Clio, an award presented to those ads judged to be the best on television that season, but it has been judged the best Super Bowl commercial in history by many in the business. I hope it works cause this is one of my all-time favorites...I'm just not sure Polamalu has the Mean Joe rep to pull it off.
Chief Dick
With all due respect to the Steelers and Polamaunslauaeau, you absolutely CANNOT reprise that commercial. You just can't.
montster
and right before the kid catches polamalu's jersey, he's blindsided by hines ward.

Agree, Can't someone at coke use a little creativity and come up with something different?

Menudo
and right before the kid catches polamalu's jersey, he's blindsided by hines ward. THAT would be funny !!!! I don't like them trying to re-make a classic like the Mean Joe commercial either, but, of the current Steelers, they are choosing the right one to do it. tazinib1
What if Polomalu was a kid in the stands above the tunnel, or was in the tunnel or whatever, who SAW Mean Joe do this and as the kid approaches him, it goes into flashback mode. There's a whole 'nother generation out there right now unfamiliar with the original.

isleseeya
Ridiculous ... no way they should do a remake of that commercial and If they had to do it with a current steeler i would say Big Ben is the one not polamalu ...
tazinib1
Why not Hines Ward? He's got the smile!
Randall
Maybe the kid grew up and it turned out to be Polamalu.
