Good Stuff!

About an hour after Auburn's Coach Tubby was fired on Wednesday a woman called into a talk radio show identifying herself as "Amy". She claimed to be the wife of one of the assistant coaches on Coach Tuberville's staff. Sounds a little ticked at how the whole thing went down. :D

On a serious note... we got another case of the tail wagging the dog. Forget about the fact that until this year, he's the only coach that ran the table in the SEC. Forget about the fact that he went 7-3 vs Alabama, including 6 straight (which is rare in that rivalry) vs Alabama.

If your expectations are that high, then pretty much every team in the country needs to re-evaluate their coaching situation. These kneejerk reactions from the "good ole boys" at some of these schools is sickening, and that includes my beloved Iowa Hawkeyes, who had some good ole boys calling for Kirk Ferentz's head before the season.

Can see both sides myself. When a Coach is making 3 million plus your expectatiions should be high.

Yeah but at the same time, you're bound to have ups and downs, and changing coaches every few years isn't the answer either. My whole thing is, if you're gonna have those expectations, then accept the consequences for your mistakes. It's pretty easy for these boosters to throw stones, but they think a quarterback is a refund. You bring in some guy, and he doesn't work out... then the next guy, when the whole time, you could have stayed with the guy that had a LOT of success, and probably had more success. If you're that concerned about money, then don't pay them to begin with, and let them go where they want. At the end of the day, the grass isn't always greener with a fresh face.

Auburn AD and Pres insist that this was entirely Tubberville's idea and said they asked him twice to reconsider. They said 100% that if it was up to them, he'd be coaching Auburn next year. This was not a "resignation", this was a resignation.

Pretty sure you didn't watch the Auburn AD's press conference, but what he said was that he only asked that Tubby put together a comprehensive report to him detailing exactly what his short, medium and long range plans were for hiring, recruiting etc.

My take is that Coach Tubby said something like who the F do you think you are? And resigned before being asked to be accountable for everything he does.

Just saw the quotes in the morning paper.

None the less, I would think the list of coaches who shouldn't have to answer to their ADs in terms of their plans, especially coming off a losing season is a very short one and shouldn't include Tubberville.

Well the only thing Tubberville ultimately do, was not be a "Yes Man" brought class to a program that needed it quite frankly after Terry Bowden, and bring success. He put up with the whole Petrino mess, and handled that with class as well. That was a rotten thing to do. He'll land somewhere, and that program will be successful. Auburn on the other hand I feel will regret this.

Obviously I don't know the man, but he does come across as arrogant much like Saban who was known not to attend meetings called by the LSU AD.

I'm sure there is more to the story than TT just not wanting to attend a meeting with the AD, or explain himself to a moron. How soon we forget how this program has took a giant crap on TT starting in 2003 with the whole thing with Bobby Petrino. I think TT got sick and tired of being sick and tired dealing with these morons, had a private meeting named his price for a buyout, and said good riddance.

Also think that Auburn was probably getting a little tired of TT as well. Coach Tubby always seem to let his name get throw around any time there was a job opening at a major school. And then using that to get Auburn to give hime either a raise or an extension.
