Grits and Shins
My local league allows players to be put on IR. When a player you have on IR has stats that player must be reactivated by the Saturday noon immediately following the game in which he has stats. Failure to activate a player you have on IR by this dead line when he has had stats results in his immediate release from your squad. At which point the released player is a normal free agent available to be picked by any owner ... the previous owner gets no preferential treatment. Stephen Jackson owner is the 2nd seed in our playoffs and did not activate SJax by noon today. He no longer owns SJax. The owner is already begging to have the drop reversed. This is the rule: Players must be either released or re-activated from IR by Saturday noon of the week following the first week said player has fantasy stats (i.e. the player has any non-zero fantasy score). When an owner fails to release or re-activate a player Saturday noon following the 1st week said player has stats the player in question immediately becomes a free agent. As a free agent the player may be acquired by any owner providing that the owner pays the prevailing transaction fee and providing that a Saturday has passed since the player was released. The original owner gets no preferential treatment. Edited December 6, 2008 by Grits and Shins

baddfish2
Failure to know what's going on is not an excuse. Ignorance may be bliss ... but it's also not an excuse. Rules are rules ... tough luck to the guy who lost him.
MikesVikes
Placing him on IR in the first place was a risk in the first place based on the way he rolls.

xMRogers
May go against the prevailing winds on this one, but does the guy get any sort of notice/indication of "hey, you need to activate this guy" - just seems to be a harsh penalty that could tip the championship over something kindof dumb

I could see missing this if it was say your WR4 or 5 or something like that but what kind of roster would this guy have where he doesn't pay attention to SJax? Grits and Shins
May go against the prevailing winds on this one, but does the guy get any sort of notice/indication of "hey, you need to activate this guy" - just seems to be a harsh penalty that could tip the championship over something kindof dumb I don't have time to actively monitor everybody's rosters throughout the week (and it is not my job). I was performing my commissioner duties on Saturday and dropped the player per the rules. Having said that I try to remind owners of these kinds of things when I can. This particular owner is a 2nd year owner and last year he had a player in the same situation ... I warned him Friday night. So he was aware of the rule.
