I think he's already proven that the normal rules of matchups, double teams, and physics don't apply to Megatron. Do the Colts CB's jam at the line or play off? He seems to have more trouble when he gets jammed. Obviously the starting QB is also part of the equation. I'm starting him, but that's in a 16 team league so my options are limited. Randall
ESPN rules? I'm in a 16 team IDP and I'm starting Steve Smith, Calvin and either Lance Moore or Ryan Grant at flex.  Always start him. When Detroit is behind and the players are suffering he'll score.

xMRogers
While I've thought of sitting him several times, I gotta go with him in the biggest game of the year.....essentially choosing him over Royal or Jamal Lewis, and considering Royal is hit or miss and J Lew is mediocre - going with a top 5 WR and feeling very good about it. gilthorp
You just go with him. 80 yarder at any time....it can happen.
Bananaman
I agree. You have to start him. I only wish I had that option.
CaptainHook
The Colts have given up very few big pass plays this year, and I believe have given up the fewest passing TD's this year. I'm starting him but I'm not expecting a hugh game.

I'm starting him but I'm not expecting a hugh game. Exactly and... Â . . . and add to the fact that Culpepper's shoulder is keeping him from practicing so far this week . . . Exactly. Â I'm seriously thinking about benching him pending the status of other starters. Andre Johnson and Roddy White are already getting the start in front of him. T Jones and likely M Barber as well. Now it's a question, frankly of whether I roll out K Smith, M Lynch, or Johnson. Lynch has smelled like poopy and Smith is basically assured of getting me 8-9 pts. Cal Johnson will either bust an 80 yd TD or get me squat. Â That is hardly a no-brainer in my book.
MrTed46
Who else is going to catch the balls there?
WildTurkey
every time I have benched Johnson because of matchup, he's scored. See the Tampa Bay game. I swore then I would never bench him again. Â However, I'm thinking of going back on my word. I have E. Royal with J. Cutler as my QB and may need to "double up" to win this week. Â As to "who is going to catch the balls" question ... well, quite possibly no one. That's the problem. But if anyone does, it will be Calvin Johnson. WildTurkey
there is no such thing as doubling up. play who u think will score the most , period. Â Well ..... uh........ good point. I can't think of an argument against that, because it's not like the Denver matchup @ Carolina is good. I guess I have visions of Antonio Bryant = Eddie Royal in my head. But, the fact that Denver has, this season, done exactly the opposite of what is "supposed" to happen makes me think they'll score big against CAR in CAR. But that already happened Monday night! Â But because this season is all about what is supposed to happen not happening, I'm sticking with Johnson because matchups, his starting QB, the lack of talent around him ... none of it seems to apply. He is the poster child for this FF season. Â thanks for the wake up call.
Square
Well, I guess I'm worried about this as well now. I have Calvin in one of my leagues and I was planning on starting him. Unfortunately, I keep hearing bad things about Culpepper and the possibility of him not playing this week. I know there is nobody else in Detroit to catch the throws, but he can't produce if there is nobody available to throw him the ball. I'm considering starting Hester tonight (averaged 8-10 points the last 3 weeks) instead of Calvin. Am I crazy? Or does someone else have news on Fumblepepper? rajncajn
Right now I'm starting Bowe & Steve Smith with Megatron on the bench. As much as I'd like to think he will continue the trend I just don't think it's going to happen this week.
Hugh 0ne
He's a top 5 WR in most scoring formats, in one league I'm in that rewards long TD's he's the #1 WR. Why on earth would anyone bench him?

G-men
Really depends on your other choices and their match ups. He is a threat, but it is Detroit! Why on earth would anyone bench him? Because, for a top guy, he has a lot of games where he catches 2 or 3 balls? I understand that the numbers are there but it just scares the hell out of me. Â If I've got guys who are getting 5 or more catches basically every week, I can pencil them in for, at minimum, 8 pts. Certainly it helps to have good options but, even though Cal has scored more than my other two WRs (A Johnson and R White), I still start those guys ahead of him most of the time. euphy
Match ups are overrated. Start him. Don't listen to any of those so called fantasy gurus. If a guy is a good player, always start him... he'll figure out a way to get you the points.
