Penn State loses QB

Not their starter Darryll Clark, but their backup Pat Devlin announced that he is going to transfer (destination unknown) effective immediately. He will not travel with the team to the Rose Bowl.

For the life I me I cannot understand why he would not go to the Rose Bowl, a once in a lifetime opportunity if he's going to transfer. This stinks of a bitter, pissed off little boy who wants to get back at his parents for sending him to school at PSU. I hope that where ever he ends up enjoys whiney little beotches who puts himself before the team as their leader.

I sorta agree Kid. Sounds bitter. But question......if he transfers immediately.....does that make him eligible to play next year? I think it does. Technically, since Penn State is in a bowl......they are still in the "current season".....right? While we think it looks bad, if he's going to transfer anyway, it might actually be a wise move for him to do it now.

My cousin says the Rose Bowl experience is one you'd never forget and treasures his trips to that game. And the rings are pretty snazzy too! :D

This was a tough blow for Penn State. Make no mistake, Pat Devlin is a fantastic QB. He just happens to be playing behind another fantastic QB, who won the job fair and square.

I really can't blame Devlin for wanting to transfer and get 2 years of playing time, rather than 1, but, I don't like the way he handled it, iin regards to this season and the Rose Bowl. The rumor is that when he announced the transfer, he met with Paterno and told him that he wasn't sure if he was going to travel with the team to the Rose Bowl. Paterno asked him to sleep on it and let him know the next day. The next day at practice, he asked him again if he was going to travel with the team and play in the Rose Bowl. Devlin said he wasn't sure, so, Paterno had his locker cleaned out during that practice.

The big issue is that, PSU felt comfortable at QB the past two years and they don't have any depth at QB now. Even in recruiting, they don't have any top prospect that have committed at QB. This was definitely a tough blow for the Nittany Lions.
