jaxfactor
Ugly, but wins nonetheless. I'll take a win every week, no matter how ugly it is. Steelers clinch the AFC North with a showdown against the pissed off Titans next week for home field advantage. Man, what a nailbiter once again. I don't know about that last review saying Holmes was in the endzone. I wonder how many FF teams won theor playoff games with that catch? Whatever.....My FF sucked ass this year but the Steelers won so I can go to work somewhat happy tomorrow.
whomper
I have disliked Pitt since I was a little kid because of the Pitt/Dal superbowls but I have to say I really admire the way that they win and handle themselves. Never quit, hugh heart, workman like. They are an awesome team .
Skippy
That was not ugly, Jax. That was beautiful. That Raven team is a great team and any way that you can beat them is great. That TD was a TD, IMO. I was very sure that they were going to award the TD. I wonder what Tomlin would have done if they did not give them the td and it was fourth and two inches? Man I am already licking my chops and looking forward to the Tenn game next week.
Squeegiebo
I'll take the win, but I am really effing tired of the ugly ones. The offense has been playing like total ass. Oh, and I'm also really effing tired of the referees ignoring the fact that Harrison is held on just about every play. Not minor ticky-tack holds, either. Trying not to be biased......but I thought it was a TD too. But I'm dying to know if Tomlin would have gone for it!! A game that tight.....I'm not sure you want to play another quarter of field position for a field goal......lol. Too much riding on the coin toss. I bet he would have gone for the win. We'd still hold the tiebreak over Baltimore if we had lost. I bet he'd have gone for it. OK.....these games are WAY too stressful.......lol. I feel like I just ran a mile to the store and had to doubletime it back with grocery bags.

You sound just like Tomlin Skippy. I suppose you're right though. Gotta respect the Balt. D. Didn't look good, but our boys still found a way to win. And with the brutal schedule they've had, I'll take it ugly or not ugly, beautiful or not beautiful. I'll take the win, but I am really effing tired of the ugly ones. Yep, I saw a couple blatant hooks on Harrison. But we got the win in the end. The offense does need to wake up though. Hines Ward is a warrior. 8 catches for 107 against the team that put a contract out on him. He's fearless.

Saw part of the press conference and Tomlin said while the review was going that they were talking about what they'd do. He was then asked the question if he would have gone for it, and of course he said that they didn't have to make that decision so he didn't answer it. I would think we'd go for it against any other team. But Baltimore definately makes you think twice. Personally if they'd have marked it at the 6 inch line, I'd sneak it. At the one, I might just kick the FG.
HowboutthemCowboys
Menudo emailed me. I'll copy and paste it below: "What a phenomenal win. Ben was phenomenal. The D played phenomenal. Tomlin coached a phenomenal game. Just a phenomenal win all around."

Anytime the Steelers give Baltimore the ball with the field position that we did and somehow hold them to three field goals and then roll down that field for the final score, you will get that PM from me. I don't know if I would call Ben's game play Phenomenal during this game but he played well. This defense is as phenomenal as phenomenal can get. After getting me all worked up and chewing all the dirt from under my nails, you will get phenomenal emails.

It was supposed to be funny.
Easy n Dirty
I was very surprised that they overruled the call on the field on that last TD - I didn't think the replay was conclusive in either direction, I think the call on the field should have been upheld. I'd feel the same way had they called it a TD on the field, I just didn't think the replay was conclusive.

They also showed the play and stopped the play in such a way that I still would have called it a TD. I am a Steeler fan though and may have had my Terrible Towel interfering with ability to be unbiased.

If you put a gun to my head and said I absolutely had to call it one way or the other, then I agree with you, I'd lean toward calling it a TD - but I think it was way too close to merit overruling the call on the field. At least 3 times I was screaming "what the hell were you thinking?" at him.
Skippy
Were we watching the same game? At least 3 times I was screaming "what the hell were you thinking?" at him. Yes I agree and I think I yelled it also. Having said that, I think I yelled that at every single game that I ever watched, played in, or listend to on the radio. I think that you have got to give some credit to that Baltimore D and realize what Ben had to overcome. Again, I think he played well. Not great but well when all things are considered. I don't have any stats to back this up but I am guessing that not many QB's had a decent day this year vs that Baltimore D. That last drive was pretty impressive and I am all about the what have you done for me lately factor.

Also, the only thing I've called phenomenal on the Steelers this year is their defense, and there is no other way to describe them. As for the game, wow, what a great win. The defense was fantastic all game. The offense, struggled again, but, a lot of that credit goes to the Ravens defense. They are very good. I was a bit disgusted by our receivers drops early. Roethlisberger had a decent game, but, he showed what he is capable of on the game-winning drive. That is one area where he has been outstanding his entire career. I feel good about giving him the ball with a chance to win the game. I just wish they would play like that on offense all game. It is very frustrating to watch. This was an exceptional game to watch, and I enjoyed it. Playing the toughest schedule in the NFL in several years and sitting at 11-3 with a 1st round bye clinched is a sensational thing, and I'm enjoying it. Now, we battle the Titans for home-field advantage. That game should be, well, ....................... phenomenal.

Not minor ticky-tack holds, either. What I did not like was that they seemed to just totally ignore it but did not extend that same blind eye to the Steelers. I saw a handful of very obvious holding on Harrison alone but sometimes I get to where I start watching him more than the entire screen. I was thinking if they had to go for it on the last play, they should have had a play dialed up that made Harrison the bull......and just plow it in. I think that would work! They do reverse calls a little too easily in my opinion. As for defensive games they are beautiful. When you get 2 physical teams of this quality any little thing can get you a win.
