Why the Giants will beat the eagles

Okay , i posted a few times ane even started a separate Giant - Philly thread which was quite tame

To be totally honest , i believe the Giants loss to the eagles the last time they played was a little flukey ...Eagles were in desperation mode and played that way ...Giants were slumping a bit and had the whole Plexico thing hanging over their head ( that was the first game right after the shooting that dragged not only Plexico down but Antonio Pierce and i think the whole team ) ...throw in the fact that Jacobs left that game before the half and never came back and it was a prime game for giants to lose

Now the Giants are rested , Jacobs will be ready to play , they will have home field advantage and i believe they beat the Eagles ... I admit that containing Westbrook is the key ( if they dont they will have problems ) but i fully believe the Giant Defense will play a great game ( much like they did through first part of the season ) ...and if its cold and windy ( Giant Stadium windy ) , the Eagles will be more effected than the Giants ...Giants can run the ball , period ... if they run like they should that means less for Eli to do but it also means Donovan and Eagles should struggle ..i dont believe westbrook runs on giants this time at all and Eagles will rely on pass which may not work

I definitely believe its a tough game but Giants win 23-17

I think it will be great game. it depend on what Philly team show up. The offense that played dalls or the pass majority Andy Rreid special. All in all should be a good game. NFC east Style.

I think it depends a lot on the weather too. I would think a cold windy game would benefit the Giants.

Right now it looks good.

I thought the Giants win was flukey

If they think A. Pierce can cover Westbrook again (not that he did last time) they might as well stay home.

Plax is gone and he really the only reason the Giants won any games vs us the last couple years.

If I was you I'd be really worried.

A healthy plax with his head on straight performing at a level like he did last year during playoffs would be a huge and added bonus ...but Giants did extremely well first 10 games of this year with a totally ineffective , unproductive plax ....actually Giants looked better for most of this year than they did even at end of last year

Westbrook will need to catch about 15 passes to be ultra effective if he can't run the ball ( see first giant - eagle game this season ) and I believe he won't be able to run effectively this week either

I think a nice healthy dose of brandon jacobs will soften up any run defense ...the Giants put 300 yards on the ground vs carolina and over 200 on the stoutest of defenses in Baltimore ravens , I am pretty sure they will be able to run on the eagles

I also believe a strong cold wind does hurt eagles ( or any qb for that matter ) and favors the team that can run the ball better

We all know its gonna be one heck of a battle regardless

So much hope but such a small chance.

Plax is gone

The Giants LBs can't cover Westbrook and he's healthier than last time.

BJ is still slowed by the knee, non-factor. And Ward isn't the same as a full-time guy

Wind, ehh, we'll see but if your counting on the weather to keep you in the game that's a bad sign

It was a nice run for you guys but everything has to end.

I love it zooty ..... Fans on both sides throwing out some smack and getting ready for the game

I know one thing I am sure all of will have some nice knots in our stomach right before game starts

P.S. Westy's knee is sore today ( reported in rotonews ) and jacobs is feeling better than he did a few weeks back

Sore is good, a couple weeks ago it "hurt" so that's an upgrade :D

Jacobs will get popped by Dawkins and spend the rest of the game on the bench. :D

i disagree about the weather. the eagles play in cold windy weather aswell. i feel it doesnt benefit either team

+1

and actually, McNabb has a much stronger arm than Manning...if its windy, it hurts Manning's ability to throw the out-route much more than McNabb. Samuel will be licking his chops.

agreed on Mcnabb vs Manning ...but Giants should be planning and likely succeeding running the ball ...may be a lot less need for manning to throw than Mcnabb

I dont see Westbrook having anywhere near the game he had last time they played a few weeks at Giants stadium ...i also beleive Tuck and Mcnabb will become good friends during this game

meh...if the Eagles know weak-armed Eli won't be throwing because there is a breeze, they can put 8-9 in the box and practice dislocating various parts of Jacobs...knees, elbows, shoulders, heads. If they can stop a healthy AP with 7 men, I think they can slow the weak-kneed Jacobs down.

People have chided the Eagles all year at their lack of a big-time WR...they have overcome. While Burress wasn't productive early in the year, the threat caused defenses to account for him. Now he's gone, and the Giants are 1-3 since. Teams are loading up, and teeing off.

Get ready for another.

Weak armed Eli ? ...Eli is not chad pennington ...and Boss , Hixon , Toomer and Steve Smith are more than capable of producing in passing game

Vikings have a good run offense but Giants have a better one ( that is rested on top of that ) ...and for all the slowing down of AP they did he still had 2 td's and was not far off from hitting 100 yards

and can AP do this : Freight Train !

Earth , Wind and Fire coming your way Sunday baby

Home field advantage and 2+ weeks of rest are the reason the Giants should win this game. If the Giants had the same amount of rest as the Eagles and was played on a neutral site, I think the Eagles would have a very good chance at winning this game.

weather aint looking so good :D

Snow morning into early afternoon ...although wind appears to be light at 9-13 mph

Run Brandon Run

you don't really think weather is an adavantage for one team over the other here, do you?

I mean it's not like the eagles play in arizona or something...they are right down the F'n turnpike

Eagles have more effective and dangerous passing game ...especially with no Plax

as good as Westbrook has been , Giants completely shut him down first time they met this season and i am expecting more of the same Sunday

so , sure , let the weather stink ... better for G men

The Giants are supposed to win. They should win. If they don't their whole season is a disappointment.

i disagree as would most Giant fans

While Giants won the SB last year with an improbable amazing run , coming into this season there was no guarantees

Strahan retired . Umineyora was lost for season before season started ...tougher schedule than last year , improved NFC East

fact Giants went 12-4 , with basically no help from Plax other week 1 and 3 i believe and the fact they won NFC East and home field advantage throughout makes this a very good season so far

it just gets much better and much more successful with a win Sunday and chance to win NFC tilte following week
