bigrocks
Vince Young.... Michael Vick.... Eric Crouch.... need I go on? All great college athletes who could not make the jump to QB in the NFL. Why? Any number of reasons, but the point is this -- NFL coaches do not want great athletes as QBs. They want great QBs. Is Peyton Manning a great athlete? Hardly. Dude looks like a stocker at Walmart. But he has a strong arm and an ability to quickly read what's happening down field. Mobility is nice, but you don't want your offense's most valuable player running around being chased by head hunting LBs and safeties. But in the event he does get injured you can plug in another pocket QB in the same offense. Tom Brady goes down... plug in Matt Cassell. To take full advantage of a guy like Vick or Young or Tebow you have to design an offense from the ground up around his talents. If he gets hurt (and he most certainly will by running so often), you have to have a similar QB on the bench to take over or otherwise you have to completely change your offense. Tebow is not going to be a QB in the NFL. Maybe an H-back who runs QB out of the wildcat on occassion.

Ziachild007
There used to be this really short kid from BC that was labeled too short/small for the QB position. Had a pretty good career if I remember correctly. But the midget had a better arm and probably a better grasp of reading defenses.
Randall
Another player staying in school. Rolle Is Heading to Oxford, Not the N.F.L. By PETE THAMEL Myron Rolle with Sally Karioth, who helped him prepare for the Rhodes scholarship process. (Phil Sears for The New York Times) The former Florida State safety Myron Rolle said in a text message Monday that he would be heading to Oxford, England, for his Rhodes scholarship instead of entering the 2009 N.F.L. draft. Rolle started for most of three seasons at Florida State and was considered a strong pro prospect. Instead he will head to England for a one-year master’s degree in medical anthropology. He said he would enter the 2010 draft. In November, Rolle became the most prominent student-athlete since Bill Bradley in 1965 to win the Rhodes, which is considered the world’s most prestigious postgraduate academic award. “I’m very excited to go,” Rolle wrote in a text message. Rolle received plenty of attention from the news media when he risked missing all or part of the Seminoles’ game at Maryland on Nov. 22 to have his final interview for the scholarship in Birmingham, Ala. Rolle completed the interview, then found out he had received the scholarship. He received a police escort to a local airport and a private plane took him to the game, which he entered late in the second quarter. The Seminoles won, 37-3. Medical anthropology is a subfield of social and cultural anthropology. It is a term which has been used since 1963 (Scotch, Norman A. (1963) Medical Anthropology. Introduction. Biennial Review of Anthropology) as a label for empirical research and theoretical production by anthropologists into the social processes and cultural representations of health, illness and the nursing/care practices associated with these. That is extremely impressive and quite frankly, very refreshing to hear.
WaterMan
Only time I saw Vick really injured was when he was trying to pass. Maybe he should have ran that time.
