Judgment day for Herm Edwards

I'll bet Herm could be a really good college coach. He should try that.

His ego wouldn't allow it.

Nope, he'll tell you he has 30 years experience in this league and he knows exactly what he's doing. Oh and he'll tell you not to question his leadership or any of his 30 years, just look at his wonderful book of accomplishments

Yeah, true.

Hey Herm. Deal with it!

It's definately time for Herm to go. I can't see how a new GM wouldn't want to put his guy in as the HC. The Chiefs have some talent and didn't show much improvement last year. This is one of those teams that could go from worst to first in that division next year with the right hirings, draft picks and free agency moves.

Has anyone else seen this rumor?

NFL: Cowher could land in KC in 2010

2:19pm - Thursday, January 15th, 2009 by Inside Pittsburgh Sports News Wire

CBS' Boomer Esiason, reported this morning on WFAN, that Bill Cowher, his colleague on the NFL Today, is close personal friends with new Kansas City Chiefs GM Scott Pioli. Boomer speculates that Cowher could take the Chiefs job in 2010. -- WFAN

TIOPS Take: Pioli is believed to be considering bringing back Herm Edwards who has one year left on his contract. If he does, this could open up the door for Cowher to land in KC.

Haven't heard that, and to me it doesn't make sense. Why have a lame duck coach? It essentially wastes another year of rebuilding this team, and I get the sense Pioli is not into wasting people's time.

Yes but that's what happened here when TT was hired. It gave him a year to observe Mike Sherman. I wish they had just let him go, but some teams do this.We were in better shape than KC though.

This really wouldn't surprise me in the least. I'd say Clark having to fork over $4 million a year to Herm for doing nothing is weighing heavily into this. I personally thought all along that Clark was going after the Big names in the NFL. Cowher pretty much has said he will not come back until 2010 and there really is only a couple guys left that could coach this team long term at this point. The only problem with this scenerio is if Herm manages to make the playoffs and win a game, now that would be really hard on the front office. I personally want Herm gone mainly because I don't see how he could ever win a championship with his coaching deficiencies. I can see Pioli taking a year himself to get the players and system in place to make sure the team is ready to compete for a championship in 2010, I'm sure Cowher would be pretty happy to go to any team that is built and setup for the long haul of success. It's exciting times in KC talking about the Chiefs, for once.

If they can improve enough to get Cowher that could be a good plan. Tough on the fans and Gonzo, but may be good long term.

Schefter was talking on Boston radio this AM. He said that Cowher and Pioli are friendly and that this could work out, but Cowher isn't ready to pull the trigger for 2009 yet. Pioli might be inclined to wait, but there is no guarantee he could sign Cowher so I would guess it to be unlikely
