tazinib1
Being that I'm from Oregon, I'll start my hometown states Mount Rushmore of sports stars. This should get interesting when people start listing NY,Penn,Mass,Texas and other states with a significantly broader pool of HOF talent. Oregon: Bill Walton -- Although he wasn't born in Oregon, he led the Jailblazers to there only World Championship, and Oregons only pro teams championship to date. Dale Murphy -- I loved watching this guy play and I'm still wondering why he isn't in the HOF. I guess his HR total will keep him out. A shame. He's on the mountain cause he's an Oregon native. Mary Decker-Slaney -- I used to watch her practice in Eugene and it broke my heart when Zola Budd tripped her during the Olympics. Man she was a hotty. Dan Fouts -- Yep, the Oregon Duck phenom went on to a HOF career with the Chargers. Class act. I might get alittle flack by leaving off Clyde Drexler, but I didn't want 2 basketball players dominating the landscape. i_am_the_swammi
Hmmmm......Pennsylvania is brutal: Those who played here: Hoops: Wilt Chamberlain (Honerable mention: Julius Erving) Baseball: Mike Schmidt (Honerable mention: Honus Wagner, Willie Stargell) Hockey: Mario Lemiuex (Honerable Mention: Bobby Clarke) Football: Chuck Bednarik (Honerable mention: Jack Lambert) Those born here: Hoops: Wilt Chamberlain (Honerable Mention: Earl Monroe) Baseball: Honus Wagner (Honerable mention: Stan Musial) Hockey: Football: Joe Montana (Honerable mention: Tony Dorsett) I left off Jim Thorpe, Larry Holmes Arnold Palmer, Bill Tilden (all born in PA), and kept my Rushmore at the four major sports. In lieu of hockey, I'd likely put Arnie on my Rushmore cause he was pretty cool.

Bier Meister
so are you looking for the state? players that played on hs, college, and prof. levels?
tazinib1
so are you looking for the state? players that played on hs, college, and prof. levels? Yep. They don't have to be pro and they don't have to be natives. The small states would have a hard time putting 4 faces up if that were the case. tonorator
potential for ohio .... jim brown, jack nicklaus, oscar robertson, frank robinson we don't need no stinkin' hockey. in place of frank robinson, you could sub in one of the big red machiners - bench, morgan, or rose. woody hayes or paul brown could show up as coaches/owners ... Randall
For Wisconsin. Don Hutson Hank Aaron Oscar Robertson No NHL, so College Football, Elroy "Crazylegs" Hirsch Some tough choices there Add Eric Heiden - 5 gold medals in the winter olympics. Mark Johnson was on the Miracle on Ice team. Johnson went on to play professional hockey in the NHL for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Minnesota North Stars, Hartford Whalers, St. Louis Blues, and New Jersey Devils. His NHL accomplishments include playing in the 1984 NHL All Star game as the Whalers representative as well as serving as the Whalers team captain in 1983–85. Oscar's a good choice but Jabbar could be listed too as would Maurice Lucas or Dwayne Wade(Marquette). Rovers
Very tough Q for NY. Jim Brown, Syracuse, football and the best lacrosse player that ever lived. Mantle, Ruth, Gehrig, Ford, Seaver, Left Gomez baseball has a long list, all Yankees 'cepting Seaver. LT, Namath, Gifford, Maynard Trottier, Bossy, Potvin, Messier, Espo, Giacoman (sp) B Smith, Brad Park Frazier, Reed, Ewing, Debush, even Dr J who played for the Nets. I have no clue who the golf, Tennis and boxing greats may have come from... Joe Loius was NY, wasn't he? Favoring my sports and teams... Mantle, Ruth, Namath and LT to get it down to 4. Good question for a sports radio survey....
