tazinib1
Well? Also anyone have a link to the current FAs? I seem to recall it not being all that great overall If I can recall correctly, your right. The FA class is pretty weak this year.

Randall
SJax is on that list and we discussed this a while ago in anohter thread... is this list accurate? I mean, he was signed during his hold out. Ricky Williams is a FA and if he gets signed elsewhere, I think that would boost Ronnie Brown's value. Has Chris Perry officially be declared a bust? If accurate, yeah, a solid group of FA. Including a lot of good Kickers, maybe DEN should declare the Matt prater experiment over? Maybe not. I thought they were updating but believe Ricky signed too. I emailed them about the error and the email came back. This one? jaxfactor
I thought Fred Taylor is a FA? Not that anyone would want him, unfortunately. Methinks he resigns with the Jags for a much smaller piece of the pie.

He more than likely will either sign at pay cut or be released to save the club $6million this year. Rickey is signed through 2010. He signed a 2 year deal in August 08. S-Jax is also signed through 2014. He signed a 6 year deal in August 08 as well. BeeR
we discussed this a while ago in anohter thread... I was thinking that, and it had a "better" link to FAs ie they were ranked so you could see how bad this FA class sucked.

You started this to say the FA's suck? Try this one. I think there are some good players there. Maybe not as good as some years but last year wasn't that good from what I remember. There are some good players to be had D-wise but O-wise it's weak...and extremely few "gotta have" type guys in general.
DocNiner52
I'd like to see the 49ers go after Ryan Fitzpatrick and go defense with their first pick. I just do not have faith that Shaun Hill can get the job done.
Randall
These players look pretty good to me if they don't get the franchise tag. I also like Brett Ratliff. Kurt Warner, Cardinals. Age: 38. An MVP candidate in the middle of the 2008 season, Kurt Warner has proven that he can lead a team deep into the playoffs if he has very good protection. Arizona needs to re-sign him as soon as possible. Matt Cassel, Patriots. Age: 27. The Patriots will franchise Matt Cassel and trade him if Tom Brady's recovery isn't behind schedule. I'd be concerned with Cassel's arm strength. In New England, Cassel thrived with Randy Moss and Wes Welker as weapons. He could struggle outside of the Patriots' system. Jeff Garcia Age: 39. Jeff Garcia's had a great career, but at 39, his days of starting are over. Garcia is one of the top potential backups on the market, but if he starts more than two games for your team in 2009, you know you're in trouble. Brandon Jacobs, Giants. Age: 27. I have some concerns with Brandon Jacobs' durability, but he's still one of the top free agents available this spring. Jacobs has proven that he's nearly impossible to tackle, and his ability to wear down defenses is something the Giants can't afford to give away. Darren Sproles, Chargers. Age: 26. Darren Sproles will never be an every-down back in this league, but he's such a great weapon to have on offense and special teams. He's a threat to go the distance at any time, as the Broncos found out on Week 17. Derrick Ward, Giants. Age: 29. Derrick Ward averaged 5.6 yards per carry this season and also caught 41 passes. However, his age makes him a risky multi-year signing for anyone. Also, Ward didn't carry the ball more than 20 times in any game in 2008. Fred Jackson (ERFA), Bills. Age: 28. One of the best change-of-pace backs in the NFL, Fred Jackson will definitely be retained by the Bills for a minimal tender. It's worth noting that Jackson rushed for 136 yards on 27 carries against the Patriots in Week 17. T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Bengals. Age: 31. It's amazing that T.J. Houshmandzadeh was still able to produce with Ryan Fitzpatrick under center. That should tell you how talented he is. Any team looking for a receiver will be praying that the Bengals don't slap Who's-Your-Momma with a franchise tag. Antonio Bryant, Buccaneers. Age: 28. Antonio Bryant would be a 4.5- or a 5-star receiver on this list if he weren't such a headache in the locker room. Of course, Bryant worked hard this season because he was in his contract year. If I were trying to sign Bryant to a long-term deal, I'd make it very laden with incentives. Otherwise, I'd be scared that he'd revert to Sloth Mode. Lance Moore (RFA), Saints. Age: 26. Lance Moore had a breakout year in 2008, catching 79 balls for 928 yards and 10 touchdowns. Those who argue that Moore did nothing once Marques Colston returned to the lineup may have missed his eight-catch, 91-yard, two-touchdown performance agains Edited February 4, 2009 by Randall
BeeR
Exactly: "pretty good." Basically every one of them has at least one VERY significant drawback or question mark (age, injury issues, etc) and I wouldn't break the bank for any to say the least. i_am_the_swammi
I assume you're saying that you're happy he's leaving? More than you know...he's the true meaning of the word stiff. When they franchised him this year (only because of, at that time, no viable alternative), knowing he was going to make top-5 money was sickening. The Eagles will definitely let him walk, knowing they have a solid pass-catching threat in Celek. They'll likely add a blocking TE via free agency or the draft. Randall
As of noon ET, NFL teams are eligible to place the franchise tag on impending free agents. Teams have until Feb. 19 to use the tenders. New England probably won't waste much time before franchising Matt Cassel. Other candidates for the tag include Nnamdi Asomugha, Kurt Warner, Karlos Dansby, Yeremiah Bell, O.J. Atogwe, Michael Koenen, All three Ravens LBs, Jason Brown, Sean Jones, Shayne Graham, Julius Peppers, Jordan Gross, Jason Hanson, Dunta Robinson, Kelvin Hayden, DeAngelo Hall, Rob Bironas, Antonio Bryant, and Jonathan Vilma.
