Fargas In Pot Video

Raiders RB Justin Fargas was recently in a video that showed excessive Josh Gordon use. A man calling himself “Yukmouth” visits the house of Fargas while rambling about smoking Josh Gordon. Fargas wasn't shown smoking any, but that doesn't mean the NFL won't look into it anyways. You are judged by the company you keep. Fargas was a part of trade rumors last year and could be again.

I hope the Colts don't pick him up for "sentimental reasons." He's all but done.

It is believed that the Bears signing QB Brett Basanez means QB Rex Grossman will be let go this offseason.
I know it's easy to pick on him but IMO he's well worth a backup slot, although he'll probably ask more than is reasonable.

Implying they don't have any talented WRs? ??

when is Josh Gordon gonna stop being an issue?
When it's legal?

Free agent CB Nnamdi Asomugha fully expects to be designated as the Raiders' franchise player. :smash:

Owner Al Davis said Wednesday that he's leaning toward using the "exclusive" designation for Asomugha, which would give the Raiders sole negotiating rights.

I honest to God thought Al would screw this up and franchise Lechlar.

Trade Kampman for Peppers?

"I thought this may be a possibility given some of the recent events, and just had those thoughts confirmed today by one of my sources. I am talking about the possibility of the Packers signing Julius Peppers. The catch is this wouldn’t be through free agency, but through a trade with Carolina where we would swap Aaron Kampman for Peppers. I can’t tell you it will happen for sure, but I know for a fact that this is something the Packers are considering. I will try and keep you updated if I find out anything further. The person who shared the info isn’t my normal source, but I know them to be reliable. I would look for this to start hitting web sites like PFT within the next couple of days. If this does happen I wouldn’t expect to see it finalized until a week or so before the draft.

Coming up: I will share some names in this Draft you probably haven’t heard about, but are high on the Packers list."

People like Mike Huff are going to have to open up some space.

What about Javon? Hw much would that help?

The cap is due to add about $6. million this year I believe, but you do have others you need to sign.

Unrestricted

QB Marques Tuiasosopo

TE Tony Stewart

WR Drew Carter

WR Ashley Lelie

C Jake Grove (can void the final year of his contract to become a free agent this year)

RG Cooper Carlisle

DT William Joseph

LB Isaiah Ekejiuba

LB Sam Williams

CB Nnamdi Asomugha

CB Chris Johnson

CB/KR Justin Miller

S Rashad Baker

P Shane Lechler

Restricted

LB Ricky Brown

LB Jon Alston

Considering how glowingly Raiders owner Al Davis spoke of Chris Johnson, I can't imagine the Raiders not making a decent offer that would keep him in Oakland. Without Johnson, the Raiders would have Stanford Routt to pair with Nnamdi Asomugha, who is probably going to receive the exclusive franchise tag again.

And unless the Raiders have a lot of faith in CB John Bowie, Johnson should be back.

A big-money offer is probably going to be needed to keep Lechler around. I also expect the team would try to keep Rashad Baker and Isaiah Ekejiuba.

Though the team gets S Tyvon Branch back, Baker proved valuable. The team is likely to cut S Michael Huff, something he also expects. Branch's return could mean the Raiders would let Justin Miller walk with little resistance.

We had to pay him his $11 million last year, plus his $5 million bonus at the end of the season because of the way Al structured his contract. (Yes... $16 million for 15 catches)

...so I'm not sure what it looks like this year.

SEAHAWKS '09: RECEIVERS

A look at the position as Jim Mora takes over as head coach and the Seahawks move on without Mike Holmgren for the first time since 1998:

WHAT THEY HAVE: An assortment of on-the-mend and inexperienced wideouts, but also John Carlson -- who led the team in receiving as a rookie and is a Pro Bowl tight end in the making. Sure, the offense will become more run-oriented under Mora and new offensive coordinator Greg Knapp. But the Seahawks still will need to throw the ball. The foursome of expected starters Nate Burleson and Deion Branch and promising backups Ben Obomanu and Logan Payne missed far more games with injuries (53) than they produced receptions (38) in 2008.

WHAT THEY CAN GET: Texas Tech's Michael Crabtree, the two-time Biletnikoff winner as the best receiver in college football, could be sitting there when the Seahawks make the fourth selection in April's draft. But taking a young receiver (he's a redshirt sophomore) that high in the draft has been a too-often-miss/not-often-enough-hit proposition in the past. It might actually be less expensive, and risky, to go after the Cincinnati Bengals' T.J. Houshmandzadeh if he becomes a free agent. If they decide against those options, there will be receivers available in the second and third rounds -- including North Carolina's Hakeem Nicks, Penn State's Derrick Williams, Oklahoma's Juaquin Iglesias, Washington State's Brandon Gibson and Texas' Quan Cosby.

WHAT THEY NEED: Get healthy, which is the mantra for this offseason. The return of Burleson to full strength is a must, because he can provide the speed and big-play ability that was so obviously missing in 2008. So is getting an entire season out of Branch, who has missed 13 games the past two years with foot, calf, knee and heel injuries after the club gave up so much to acquire him (first-round draft to the Patriots) and appease him (six-year, $39 million contract).

I love Kampman, but he's not on Peppers level. No way does this trade happen. If it somehow did, I would be beyond ecstatic.

The pisser is we could have just let him retire and been free of his unproductive, expensive self.

Well, at least we got some good news today withteh signing of Michalczik as our O-Line coach.
